Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Best decision I ever made

The non-judgmental way in which the staff dealt with my enquiry and the help they gave me meant that a weight was lifted off my shoulders straight away. I no longer worry about receiving letters from debtors and know that my monthly payments are fair and affordable. Reviewed on: 28th July 2022

Life Savers

Life saving

I finally plucked up the courage to contact Stepchange after my business failed and my debts spiralled out of control. They spoke to me in a calm, non-patronising way and encouraged me to admit all my debt. They put me on an affordable DMP that has genuinely been a life saver. Friendly, supportive and impartial advice

Since I started my debt management plan in 2019, Stepchange have been the most supportive company you could ask for. They're extremely fair, you don't feel judged and a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders. I can now sleep at night knowing my debt is under control and honestly, I feel free. I can not explain the feeling of being able to share my debt problems with somebody. To make it even better everyone that helped me at Stepchange was truly amazing, kind and supportive.

I kept my debt problems a secret for a long time and unfortunately suffered because of it. I looked online for help and came across Step change. I built up the courage to call and I'm so pleased I did ! I was very upset when I first started to explain and the support I received was life changing for me. Once I realised I wasn't trapped and always had someone on the line to talk to I felt like a different person. Saved our family from spiraling

After having two children close together and having to leave employment to live off one wage, my family were in a very tricky spot. Step change saved us from spiraling and now we can carry on living comfortably and carefully whilst not having to worry about debt collectors or getting into more debt, all of this was for free and the help is extremely appreciated. Truly amazing kind helpful charity
