I turned to step change in 2020 my marriage had broken down , and I was left with a lot of debts so I owed about 16000, at the time, iv been able to put all my debts as one payment, so far iv payed just over 6,000 pounds in the last 5 years I'm glad I did turn to step change, they have helped me sort out my debts and now iv been able to sleep at night Reviewed on: 24th May 2025

I was worried about my money debts and how to cope with paying the debts back. I heard about Step Change and that they could listen to my problems and help with advice and help me repay my debts within my rapidly dwindling income. Step Change helped me do this. i was over £50k in unsecured debt

i was over £50k in unsecured debt. I was managing but only just, one bump in the road and that all changed. I contacted Step Change after looking at my options, they never judged me just went through my spending and income and gave me clear concise options. I opted to enter a Debt Management Plan, filled in a consent form and that was it. I have been in my DMP for four years now and am down to about £11k debts with many paid off already. I am due to be debt free in September 2025 and can't wait. Step Change also teach how to budget for everything including those little unexpecting things in life. I would certainly recommend anyone who is struggling with debt not to ignore it and get help now, it will change your stress levels and take the weight off, no more being chased by debt collectors. The staff just help take away the anxiety, weight, worry by dealing with so much for you it's the relief of knowing I can deal with this now ..rather than panicking and trying to ignore it makes things worse , all done on line or over phone and all the staff are amazing so quick in answering queries...its that whole feeling they are there to help you through it all the way ...A massive thankyou from me ...highly recommend. Stepchange gave me my life back...

Stepchange allowed me to continue having a roof over my head, because I was about to sell my property, due to high debt in credit cards, and loans, being a single mum. I was paying almost 1/2 of my minimum wage salary towards the debts. Since joining Stepchange, I can now pay my priority bills, such as: mortgage, car finance, energy, council tax etc..and then I can pay the credit and loan debts with the agreed amount that I can afford. Only for Step Change my life would be in a much darker place. With them my debt is consolidated, I feel pride I can repay what o owe at a manageable rate and my health physically and mental no longer suffer because of my finances. Reviewed on: 2nd May 2024
