Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

The helping hand you need

We all need a little in life. And sometimes that help lies in an understanding voice, a little clarity, a few options, and someone to lift the burden with you. All of those are things I found with StepChange. I'm five years into my debt management plan, and I know I couldn't have done this without them. Their work with my creditors, and access to their portal has brought control, peace of mind and a massive decline in my debt. In return they have asked for nothing but for me to remain honest and open with them. Stressed more than ever!!!!!

Everything was set up well and the understanding of my budget and money available for debts was straight forward to complete, however i did think that once i had set the plan up and the companies had been informed that i would no longer be stressed about my debt and would be able to see light at the end of the tunnel. This has not been the case, i am more stressed now as i have the companies continuously contacting me by phone and letter making me feel like a criminal Reviewed on: 7th May 2024
