Step Change - Excellent

After struggling to manage my debts for a long time I finally turned to Step Change. Within a short period of time just and a few really understanding phone calls, my debt plan was in place, my creditors were off my back and I could start to open my post and emails again without holding my breath every day. I reached out to step change a couple of times and when I was ready to take up the advice and support they were helpful! The website is easy to use and ideal if you’re anxious and don’t want to speak to anyone. Everything is explained to me very well and it’s ideal for my financial situation. As part of my job role in the NHS I mention step change to my patients who are also dealing with financial difficulties and it’s a great way to encourage people to start thinking about taking action to become better financially. It’s my job to link and help my patients with their health and welbeing and having had good experiences with Stepchange this has made it easy to recommend them to my patients. Genuinely saving lives

When the cost of living crisis took hold and me and my family found we were struggling to pay for heating, putting food on the table etc after paying all of our unsecured debts I found myself in a dark place. Not being able to provide for your family is one of the hardest things to comprehend as a husband and father and I found myself considering whether ending my life was a way out. A counsellor recommended I talk to step change to get help. They immediately put my on a breathing space programme where my creditors stopped hounding me and worked through a budget and payment plan that I could afford NOT what the creditors were demanding. I know its going to take me a number of years to clear these outstanding debts but the help Step Change gave me helped me back from the brink of suicide and gave me hope going forward Reviewed on: 13th July 2023

Face your fears

I was left with debt following a relationship breakdown. I tried to manage however I knew that I could not meet the debts. A friend recommended contacting Step Change. It took an awful lot to make the initial call however I was met with kindness, understanding & support. I can not that Step Change enough. I was anxious and consumed by my debts and couldn't see a way forward. In contacting your organisation and speaking with a debt management support worker. I have managed to set up a debt/repayment plan and all my creditors are satisfied. Reviewed on: 13th July 2023
