Windscreen repair misery!

As with all car insurance companies, they're great until you have to make a claim! We had a stone hit our windscreen which spread into a crack through the driver's side windscreen, making the car illegal to drive due to poor visibility. Tesco's only use National windscreens which had a HUGE queue of customers waiting for attention. In the end, we were without use of our car for ONE MONTH! When I looked online, Autoglass could have had it all fixed and sorted within less than a week (although of course we had to use National Windscreens because that is the contract Tesco's have!). I explained all of this to Tesco's, how I needed the car for school runs and oncology appointments, and they were entirely unsympathetic. Wouldn't give any form of refund and wouldn't even consider supplying a courtesy car (because it wasn't on our policy), even though not having a car for over a month was completely due to their crappy contracts! Absolutely hopeless. Which is a shame because I have plenty of Tesco products. But certainly wouldn't use again and wouldn't recommend. July 2023. Reviewed on: 10th July 2023

First car was a total loss and Cat S, now it's repairable

Avoid these clowns at all costs. They contacted me when one of their customers hit my parked car, claiming it would be easier for them as the third party to handle the claim. After a very large quote to repair the damage, they instructed an independent engineer to assess the car. Their report stated the car was a total loss and a Cat S. Tesco called me to arrange a settlement figure but they changed their mind when the realised my car had PCP finance on it despite the report that they had stating the car was on PCP. I was promised the car was not going to assigned a Cat S by a manager but it initially was. All of a sudden, the total loss and Cat S was being ignored and the car repaired. Tesco's broker have stated that this should still be a Cat S and not simply ignored. I have also not been told why the car was classed as a Cat S, despite me asking numerous times. Awful service. Clueless!

I called to cancel a policy as I had sold the car. I asked how much I would have to pay to cancel and I was told £30. I asked this same question numerous times just to make sure. So I payed the £30 fee and thought nothing of it. A couple of weeks go by and suddenly I get a letter asking for another £87. I went on holiday and came back to a letter from a debt collection agency. Absolute joke of a company, will avoid from now on. Reviewed on: 3rd July 2023

Took 8 months to make a decision

Tesco car insurance is probably the worst insurance company I have had to deal with. I had a theft from my vehicle where a playstation was stolen. They couldn't give me a quote for how much installation replacement would cost so ended up dragging it for 8 months until I had to cancel the claim so I didn't pay a premium on my renewal. I am now complaining to the financial ombudsman, be warned, they will do anything to not pay out. Pay a bit extra and go with a proper insurer. Reviewed on: 26th June 2023

Phoned to make a change on policy before it started

Terrible no customer service

Tried to cancel car insurance as took the quote up with Tesco but then found a much cheaper car quote. Tried 3 times to cancel on hold for over 50 minutes then they put phone down . God only knows if you had an accident Reviewed on: 13th June 2023

Stay away from Tesco insurance

Hi It is 8 months now, since my wife had accident and my disabled daughter was hurt in the car, They send her to physiotherapy for a session and that all we never heard back from them, Every time we call Tesco insurance they saying it’s the solicitor, we ask to call or email you , Nothing absolutely nothing But the very first thing they did was her insurance premium gone high a lot, even the accident wasn’t her fault, someone hit from behind My advice to you all , stay away from Tesco insurance Reviewed on: 9th June 2023

The worst experience I've had.

Customers charged for making an error.

Having purchased car insurance on 25th May 2023 I received paperwork some days later . While checking paperwork I noticed I had put my wifes year of birth one year wrong and for some reason that I must have done in error I was shown as a named driver on another vehicle. That was on 31st May 2023. Spent following day trying online to edit the incorrect information. On 2nd June 2023 in desperation I rang Tesco Bank/ car insurance to be told that I could not change my wife's date of birth online but as the policy doesn't start till 6th June they will wave the £25 alterations fee. ( How kind....not) The lady named Ellie having corrected my error then announced you now owe us another £67. I was fuming to say the least but kept calmish as she went to ask someone about it. She came back and said yes that is the price.. Now I do not believe that one year difference in a pensioners age costs £67. So I deliberately cancelled the policy and thought I'll redo the policy through confused.com as before which is when I found out that he....her boss who she referred to as he had not charged me the price at when I got the quote and booked it originally but was charging me today's price. Well if you call that honest MrTesco, I don't. I find it disgusting and as for the jobsworth who made the decision at least I know what goes round comes round. Must be really proud. Tesco....
