Took an extra 60% off me above what was quoted

On the 4th November, I got a price to transfer my tesco car insurance from my old car to my new one: £106.22 The person I spoke to said the quote would be saved on their system, so on the day of transfer (1 week later, Saturday 11th November), all I needed to do was give my policy details and the switch would be simple. I purchased the car as planned and when I phoned through, they said they had no record of a call and then they bumped the transfer price up from £106 to £167!!! They left me stuck in a situation where I had no choice but to give in to a 60% increase. I complained but they reiterated that they (conveniently) could find no record of offering me that quote and therefore, case closed. NEVER AGAIN! Reviewed on: 12th November 2023

Easy quick and helpful

This is the second year I have taken out car insurance with Tesco, not only are they competitive they are very helpful if anything isn't straight forward on line. I have recently had to change the terms of my policy as husband has become insulin dependant and the advisor talked me through all the changes in an easy to understand way. Thank you Tesco! Consistently good

I am very happy with my car insurance from Tesco, who I have been with since I passed my test six years ago. Since then, they have consistently offered fair prices and have made me want to renew each year. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Very good.

Surprisingly, my experience with Tesco car insurance has been very good so far. I managed to get a great deal considering i have just passed my test and bought a Fiesta my final quote came to around £1100. It was originally around £2000 but after adding a family member to the insurance, the price went down nearly £1000. A Blackbox was fitted and again, Tesco were very flexible on fitting times. There is also chance for you to get bonus miles (around 100miles per month) for good driving which is very good, and a discount at the end of the insurance policy. I definitely recommend this if you are looking for a cheap full comp insurance policy. Reviewed on: 11th November 2015

Good first year prices, let down at renewal time

As with most insurance companies, their first year price was really competitive. Unfortunately at renewal time they attempted to more than double my premium and hoped that I wouldn't question it. I did not make any claims during this time or changes to my vehicle or address. Reviewed on: 11th November 2015
