Absolutely shocking company. I wish I had read these bad reviews years before opening a credit card account with them... Do not even deserve 1 star as others have said. I was in an ongoing complaint about how I had no notification about owing them money. It was a year and 8 months later and I only found out then when there was interest and they had defaulted my account and passed a debt I didn’t know I had onto debt collectors who have been hounding me. After calling Tesco furious and in shock, I was told they tried to send letters to an address I wasn’t at and their process can’t email. How ridiculous that they would let their loyal customers feel like this and put them in a position of financial difficulty. I had to call back several times and was kept waiting and receiving letters from a debt collection service before my complaint had even been resolved!! They did not think to email me on the address held on file in all of that time and instead assumed I was ignoring them, defaulted my account (without me knowing), ruined my credit score and passed my details onto debt collectors! Incompetent staff and managers are none the wiser. I’ve never missed a payment in my life, nor am I irresponsible with my money. The lack of customer empathy and service was disgusting. I expected more from a big company like Tesco. If I had known I had this debt (I paid my last payment and put the credit card to the side - a unauthorised payment came out after without my knowledge) I would have been able to either pay it or query it immediately. However the effort was not made to contact me in an effective way after so long. The call handlers offered no resolution or understanding and I have had to go through a debt company with a damaged credit score because of their lack of service. Did not accept any responsibility or resolve my complaint. As a former employee for a big Successful financial company, I can tell you that this Tesco Bank is extremely poor.. from their policies, to their staff.. Staff need to be trained on people skills, their complaints policies need to be revised and improved and the company needs to read these reviews in order to improve their service otherwise they won’t last long.. Will be taking this to the Ombudsman service and FCA. As a loyal customer, I am absolutely appalled and disgusted by the service I have received today and will never use Tesco Bank again. Good Offers

Good offers for interest free periods sent through regularly. Only issue being that I was given a new club card number and didn't realise so my points weren't going to the account I checked. Customer service are very quick and helpful to sort out any issues including fraud attempts. Reviewed on: 7th February 2017

Absolute Rubbish.

They have no right to be called a bank as they have absolutely no idea what they're doing. They fail to send out statements so that you can pay your credit card bill on time then charge you a late payment fee and interest because your payment is late due to their incompetence. They tell you that you've chosen to have your statements sent by e-mail when you haven't. They tell you that their e-mails to you have bounced back - there's a good reason for that! They've used the wrong e-mail address. I'm trying to ascertain if they've sent my credit card statement to somebody else. If I find that they have, I'll sue them for breach of data protection. Not as good as they used to be

Tesco used to give you a clubcard point for every two pounds you spent with your card, but changed it to one every eight pounds which is very different making the rewards much less Reviewed on: 5th February 2017

Tesco bank credit card

I applied for Tesco credit card, but I was declined. Tesco doesn't even provide soft credit check option. It goes straight to hard check and spoils credit history. I applied for Barclay and they accepted it. I never had bad credit history. I would suggest customers not to apply for Tesco credit card or loans. I called customer service and I was told that tesco doesn't have copy of my credit score. I have to order my credit check through third-party. Few of those listed on the refusal letter just to make money. Reviewed on: 4th February 2017

No problems, but needs to modernise

I've never had an issue with the card, but the online system for payments and statements just feels very old-fashioned and could do with a makeover to make it a bit more visually appealing and user friendly. Reviewed on: 1st January 2017

Hassle Free and Rewarding

I've been with Tesco Bank for only a couple of weeks so far but am pleased I can collect loyalty points by using their credit card. I'd have been keener still to recommend the card if it awarded more points per purchase though... Reviewed on: 31st December 2016

Closing account

I had been fairly happy with the account but decided to cancel it as it wasn't my main account. It took a few phone calls and seemed like a long drawn out process. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the procedure maintaining a professional image. Reviewed on: 24th December 2016
