Review of the 247 Home Rescue, Home Emergency Plan:

Rip off boiler cover policy that they try to charge you extra for

1
Absolutely ridiculous! Had annual boiler service, then they said oh there's a grommet missing on the cable so it's deemed unsafe so they had to cap off the boiler and remove the valve so I can't use it. Was told that someone will be round to fit a cable grommet and reconnect it the next day, fine. Then I get a phone call saying for the work to go ahead I need to pay £120!!!! To fit a stupid cable grommet! I've had this boiler since moving into this house and have had multiple boiler services done over the last 8 years and nobody has raised this issue. I'm now left with no heating or hot water unless I pay them £120 to reconnect it! Absolutely ridiculous daylight robbery. If I didn't have service plan with them I would be better off! To add to this, I have just logged into my account to check my cover... I am on ‘Premium’ cover at £18.70 per month with £0 excess and this is my second year with them. I have never claimed and they were the ones that serviced the boiler last year! It clearly also states that it is a rolling monthly contract so I’m not tied down and can cancel any time so why was I told when I tried to cancel that I’d still need to pay for 12 months!? I thought the whole idea of getting a boiler cover with unlimited call outs and £0 excess is that there should never be unexpected costs on top of this monthly premium so what exactly is the point of me having this cover!? Dishonest and dodgy

My first engineer experience with this company was great. After this they have just proved themselves to be more dodgy, overcharging plumbers Charging me £230 for a 25 minute job fitting a fireplate, was just dishonest. They said it was a 2 hour job and “reduced” the price of the part to £30 from £60. It was a £12 fireplate Engineer was here for 25 minutes. He lied and said it was 55 minutes. I am now locked into a contract for 10 more months and would be fined if I break it. Stay well away from this company. They are dishonest and dodgy Reviewed on: 12th June 2025

Absolutely incompetent gas engineer

1
Absolutely incompetent engineer arrived after 5 days of reporting having a broken boiler, arrived at 5.20 last job of the day, couldn't be arsed to fix the boiler as it's a big job with replacement parts needed.. sat in my garage where the he boiler is located for 15 minutes, told me it's fixed drive of check the boiler, left it exactly the same as he arrived not working, having two young children in the house with no heater etc... absolutely fuming stay well away from this company, I wouldn't trust them to change a tap washer never mind fix a gas boiler, Reviewed on: 19th February 2025

Paid for annual service plan and had to pay extra to bring service forward to maintain annual service. Had the service and the radiator they used to drain the system then started to leak. They then forced me to pay an extra £95 quid to get someone to come and fix it. Reviewed on: 15th February 2025

RIP OFF AND TERRIBLE SERVICE

1
I had boiler and heating cover since 2023 initially it was £5 per month and included an annual boiler service…. They scheduled the boiler service for April but then rescheduled it due to a high number of call outs. It was rescheduled a further 2 times to the point I didn’t actually get an annual service because it ended up happening over a year later. What i also hadn’t realised (my fault as it will be in the small print) is that their contract auto renewed and they had over doubled the price!, and guess what once the contract starts…. You can’t cancel it without paying the whole term! Even if you cancel the direct debit they send a passive aggressive email that said “oops! Looks like you cancelled your direct debit in error so we’ve taken the liberty to reinstate it” For 2025 I was more on the ball and knew I was cancelling because in 2 years of being with them I was entitled to 2 boiler services and only got 1!! I was also shocked to see their price had increased from £12.75 to £20.95 per month! (In 2023 I was paying £4.95). Tried to tell them I don’t want to renew via live chat to be told you have to call? Why? I’m just telling you I’m not renewing! I said it’s ok I’ll cancel the direct debit - response that doesn’t cancel the policy … I can’t be bothered looking it up but I’m sure if someone cancels their direct debit at the end of their policy and told you, you can’t just sign them up to a new direct debit at a higher price because they wouldn’t call instead of chat? I did phone because I don’t have time to keep arguing, got the hard sell (which is clearly why they want you to call) but after I said I feel like I’m being scammed by you and your making it impossible for me to get out of this endless agreement with shocking service and I wouldn’t renew my policy with you if it was free, they proceeded with the cancellation: Just avoid like the plague and if you really must take a policy through them either don’t do it via direct debit (because they want you to miss their emails and slyly keep putting the price up) or diarise it to check each year so they don’t scam you! 24/7 an absolute rip off.

1
24/7 an absolute rip off. I kept paying monthly direct debit and paid excess fee £95 twice for one event when I had a drainage blocked last month. They send out engineers(cowboys) whom more likely to view and write reports only rather than to complete the task and finally I was told those blocks are not included in the policy, same as other reviewers in this page. I had to call out plumbers from Checkatrade and job is completed within 3 hours. 24/7 is infamously known to the people in this trade, I found lot of other victims like me when I have searched online. This simple job they couldn't complete even though £190 excess fee paid and paying monthly DD for last 10 months, you don't expect to call someone from Checkatrade who completes the jobs so easily. 24/7, nothing but a SCAM !!!!!!! Will do anything to sell a boiler, including lie to you

1
Sales person wasn't transparent about call-out fees when I was sold a boiler and how that impacts my current policy. 247 Staywarm, who are a sister company of 247 Home Rescue, have told me that I don't need to pay for call-out charges, but this is not true! He wasn't clear about the difference between the warranty and the plan I'm paying for. I can't escalate to the Financial ombudsman service since 247 Staywarm who sold me the boiler isn't regulated by them. Reviewed on: 30th November 2024

This company is a complete rip off!

1
This company is a complete rip off! I took out boiler insurance with them and during my annual boiler service they told me if my boiler broke down they would not be able to get parts for it so I should buy a new boiler. They scaremonger you into believing your boiler will break down during winter and they won't be able to fix it. I started the process of getting a new boiler and paid them a deposit. I then did some research and realised they were charging a lot more than other company's for a new boiler and the new boiler insurance was a 10 year direct debit which they did not tell me about. They also did not tell me that I was entitled to a £250 discount as I had a policy with them. I cancelled the new boiler but the company did not give me back my £700 deposit. I phoned them several times and they said the refund had been processed and it was my bank that was keeping the funds from me. It was all lies, no refund was processed so I opened a dispute with my bank and got my money back. All the people that work for this company are in on the scam and are just trying to sell products. Don't waste your money go with another company! Reviewed on: 30th September 2024

QUACK ENGINEERS AND ROGUE TRADER

1
I had a one-year cover policy with 247 Home Rescue, that covered nothing. They were only interested in collecting monthly direct debits. 1st call out for a shower tap problem was declined. 2nd call out for kitchen drain blockage could not be fixed by an unskilled cowboy sent. I have to do this privately with a handyman. The annual boiler service request took the person sent three minutes only to dust the boiler with a brush. Thirdly, the call out for no hot water and heating again was misdiagnosed as a broken pump, so boiler replacement was recommended by another unskilled person sent by 247. I had to cancel my policy and called out the W/Bose engineer privately. The boiler was diagnosed as low pressure due to leakage hence no hot water and heating. The leaking spot was tightened and the boiler was repressurised. Heating and hot water are now restored. The engineer said nothing was wrong with the boiler. I WONDER THE NUMBER OF GOOD WORKING BOILERS 247 HOME RESCUE QUACK ENGINEERS HAVE CONDEMNED. Engineer advised water pump would need replacing and if we hear nothing in a few days then ring 24/7 back. we did this and the receptionist said boiler is fine and we don't need any repair doing??, How would she come to this conclusion? i asked can she contact the engineer who came out to re confirm. she said no. We cancelled our monthly subscription with them but still had to pay 80pds cancellation fee. company is a joke Reviewed on: 16th September 2024

They provide pest control as part of the package. Called as I discovered mouse droppings in my property. Was advised that I need to visually see three or more mice before they’d consider coming out. Reviewed on: 14th June 2024
