Best to go somewhere else. They take your money for years - no problem. Really obstructive when you are due to get it out. Lots of delaying tactics. Reviewed on: 21st December 2025

About this product

Aegon offered a Retiready Pension which was withdrawn for new customers from December 2023. For existing customers, it has a maximum service charge of 0.5% per year.

I have two policies with this lot.

have two policies with this lot. I reached 55 and had received a letter saying do you want to withdraw your pots. 2.5k in total. Since 29 April ive been trying. Ive had rude operators and stalling tactics like you wouldnt believe sending only a few of the forms they required. We need these forms then provided me with the ones they never sent and a very easy to rectify mistake, so sent them again in reply to an email they are attached too. They ignored them and referred to the originals 4 days later. Call us back.... I did they wouldnt put me through. Theyve been deliberately messing me around to hold onto 'My money' as long as they can. Everyone else paid weeks ago. This lot, request a quote request forms we wont send them for weeks then not all of them. Its now June nothing and no closer. Yesterday I gave an ultimatum. We sort it today or else. They they messed me around again. I said ill do this they went 'Aright &^&^' like I was boring them. On hanging up. They were reported to Action Fraud. The FCA have requested evidence I was holding off until my last ditch attempt. Theyve received the evidence. They are also getting a county court summons in the next few weeks. If your a company looking for a provider or you have a choice. I put a review on another site. The said "Theyd look into it and noticed youve now withdrawn your request to get the money". Started April 29th I withdrew it June 4th still no money. I said ive had no choice you wont pay it out I have to get another financial firm to get it off you. Case proven. Reviewed on: 5th June 2025

How can it be so bad

My experience with Aegon retirement platform/workplace pensions (as a pension professional) is appalling. They clearly do not care, and it's a complete rip off. Each time I contact them, you just can't get hold of anyone, and they pass you from one team to another. Most frustrating. And technology doesn't work. Invest in your company for goodness sake. Poor web site

Impossible to get a payout from Aegon

My husband died in January 2023 and had both a defined contribution and defined benefit pension plan with Aegon. It's been impossible to get a payout yet (8 months later) from either plan. They keep asking for additional information and have been adding delay after delay after delay. I thought I'd search reviews of Aegon and see from this site that I'm not alone. Terrible, terrible company. Avoid it if at all possible. I've dealt with Legal and General and Buck on my husband's other pensions and both dealt with them smoothly and efficiently, paying them out months ago. Impossible to get your money out.

I've been waiting for my lump sum for over thirty days. Phoned them today and nothing had been done with it. Assistant upgrade my request to urgent. Emailed a formal complaint, again! Not holding my breath for a result anytime soon Next step complaint to FCA. Reviewed on: 11th August 2023

One of the worst companies I have dealt with

Let's see..it's been nearly 4 weeks transferring a pension out to another provider. Aviva managed to process this in four days? You can't get through on the telephone to Wagon. It takes weeks for an email response. Horrendous. Reviewed on: 7th August 2023

Titanic pension

My retirement pension with Aegon is going down faster than a sinking ship, down by nearly 25% this year, at this rate nothing left in 3/4 years. And this is a low risk policy that quotes " designed to preserve the fund " utter joke!! Reviewed on: 5th August 2023

Useless

Husband been trying to get a lump sum from his pension.say a letter was sent.didn’t receive.did forms online.they rang him next day.everything fine.get an email saying ‘we aim to complete within 12 working days.27 working days later. failure to transfer funds to another provider

abject incompetence from Aegon asking for British identification when I dont live in the uk writing by post for urgent approvals but sending everything else electronically rejected certified copies of my identification but when you ring to speak to them you have to pass 7 identification questions clowns and jokers Reviewed on: 12th July 2023
