Best high street banking app

The barclays app is the most user friendly out there and the features available are those which cannot be matched at the moment. Further their savings rates remain competitive Reviewed on: 4th June 2024

Terrible app, poor customer service

The app is really slow, badly designed. Customer service just does not work, it takes 30 mins to get to them and, when they answer, they just do not focus on you. Guys, there are so many superb accounts out there...do not waste your time with Barclays. Reviewed on: 21st November 2021

Avoid Barclaus at all costs

This bank is so unsympathetic and could not possibly be less helpful. I waited over a month to receive a letter so that I could prove my address and open an account. When I finally got tired of waiting I went into their Bath branch to try and set it up in person and was told it would be over a month until I could get an appointment. I am a student and I have bills and rent to pay and I cannot do so without a bank account. I registered with the bank in September and it is now nearly the end of October and due to their poor service and dismal application system, if I were to actually open an account with Barclays (which I definitely will not be), it would not be possible to do so until the end of November. No Loyalty towards long term customers

Been with Barclays since my first adult account at 16 I'm now in my 40's and despite repeatedly asking they point blank refuse to report my good record to credit bureaus. Yet added my husband to same account ten year ago and they report his connections. Repeatedly had issues with faulty cards dodgy chips and them blocking my card for security issues when I use them in same places on daily basis. Absolutely rubbish service in process of moving over to TSB good riddance to bad rubbish 25+ years custom lost. Reviewed on: 14th October 2021

On the side of scammers

I was with Barclays for a good number of years with out any issues. Unfortunately I was targeted by fraudsters and had money stolen. Barclays basically turned around and said tough and would not refund the money. After a lot of going back and forth and getting the obismon involved. they finally decided to refund the money. Needless to say the way I was treated like I was the criminal and my mental health suffered. I was even hospitalised due to the streets of it. I have now closed the account and will have nothing to do with Barclays. Reviewed on: 19th August 2021

Poor customer service

I submitted to get a debit card from barclays bank. I received my card a few days later but it never worked in any tore purchases. After multiple attempts to contact them, I finally are reached a baraclays bank member who offered to send me a new card. That card has not worked either and I have attempted to call barclays bank multiple times but each time they hang up on me as soon as I have completed all security checks. Easily for a fraudster to steal money from a deceased account

On my parents passing I quickly discovered that Barclays has an unacceptable pathetic security process that allowed a fraudster to very easily close my parents accounts upon their death and steal their money. On top of this they are now forcing us to pay thousands in legal fees to get grant of probate to get the money back even though it isn’t a huge amount. This same fraudster did a similar thing with a Halifax account but Halifax have been great, have given the money back and they are now chasing and prosecuting the fraudster. Barclays should be ashamed. You have a responsibility to your customers estate’s and you are a massive fail. Reviewed on: 7th August 2021

Poor service, scam prevention and handling

Worst bank when it comes to customer service and scam protection. I have waited almost 6 months to pick up my scam claim, for which I had to go to a branch because otherwise it’s impossible to reach them. And after they picked up my claim, of course they said that they are unable to refund my money. The scam protection/ prevention is one of the poorest, nothing compared to Lloyds Bank, which I find them more interested in preventing these things and protecting the customers. I just lost almost £900 and after such a poor service, I closed all my accounts with Barclays. Reviewed on: 3rd August 2021
