CATASTROPHIC INCOMPETENCE AND PRESSURE TACTICS

​I am a NON-FAULT customer, yet the claims process with Churchill has been appalling and indicative of deliberate tactics to discourage me from pursuing a fair settlement. ​Key Issues & Facts: ​Claim Disappearance and Communication Failure: My claim file repeatedly vanished from the online portal. Scheduled calls (e.g., with the Motor Engineering Team) were completely ignored, with no callback whatsoever, which is scandalous. ​Unacceptable Lowball Offer: After declaring my VW Passat a Total Loss, Churchill issued an automated valuation of £1,698. This is a deliberately undervalued offer that ignores the true market retail value and my recent investment in the vehicle. ​Ignoring Personal Injury: Following the accident, I have been experiencing dizziness and severe headaches, formally confirmed by my GP and requiring medication. Despite this serious medical situation, Churchill continues to employ delaying and pressure tactics. ​Procedural Chaos: I was notified that the collection of the courtesy hire car (Auxillis) had been cancelled without notifying me, forcing me to wait pointlessly. ​This entire process has been a waste of time and a deliberate stressor for an innocent party who should receive prompt support. Churchill is not only undervaluing my settlement but is actively exploiting my medical situation. ​I demand immediate intervention from a Senior Handler and the closure of the Passat claim via payment of the fair market value of £3,500 and settlement of the uninsured loss claim. Please note that the personal injury claim has already been transferred to the law firm Calio Claims for full legal pursuit. ​AVOID THIS INSURER. Great company until YOU have a problem

My car had a minor bump, Churchill told me that DLG Autos would carry out the repairs on return my windscreen, rear screen, both windows on each side, both mirrors and my sunroof were covered in 100s of minute speckles, their engineer inspected my car glass and said they were stone chips!! in my opinion these speckles are welcome burns, I asked how could stone chips damage every panel of glass without a chip on the paint work.... NO ANSWER I asked what's the difference between stone chips and weld burns.... NO ANSWER so as far as I'm concerned this supposedly 'qualified' engineer based his outcome on guess work, I asked the Financial Ombudsman the same questions...NO ANSWER and they also sided with the engineers decision, I asked DHL Auto Services in Glasgow and DLG HQ customer services....NO ANSWER. However during my complaint process I discovered that Direct Line own Churchill and they also own DLG Autos and this engineer works for them all so basically he has no interest in the client because he's a bootlicker for his bosses!! Never use Churchill for your insurance

As I am about to buy a new car I contacted Churchill, with whom I currently have insurance to ask for a quote. I answered all the questions only to be told that the underwriters had refused my request. I was told it was not age related and that no reason could be given . 'It was a confidential matter'. When I asked who the underwriters were I was given the same answer even though that information is freely available on the internet. I was left speechless. I shall now be changing the insurance policy for my house insurance and will never apply to Churchill again. I would never recommend Churchill to anyone for insurance. Reviewed on: 9th October 2025

As a result of damage in a supermarket car park I contacted Churchill for repairs. I was told I couldn't have a courtesy car for 3 weeks - they don't have enough. Could I pay more and upgrade my replacement car? - NO. 5 weeks after the incident I'm still waiting. Calls are unanswered, promised return calls are not made. Their app in useless. AVOID it's the worst service I have ever had. My home insurance is also with Churchill - but not for long. Reviewed on: 25th August 2025

Avoid at all costs

They lose evidence, don’t call back unless you put in a complaint, drag out claims even if they’re cut and dry. I’ve had one claim with CCTV footage (which they lost) drag out for four years. And another claim drag out for two years with no end in sight. Reviewed on: 4th August 2025

!!BEWARE - THE SMALL PRINT!! and PROMISES TO CALL BACK

I paid £2300 premium to cover my F Pace. There was a claim at 6 months. They would not cover the new vehicle, forcing me to cancel. Then they wouldn't refund the the 6 months un-used. They promised to call me back and never did, despite taking the name (would not provide surname) they did not call me back. As their call centre is in South Africa perhaps they feel detached from the customers in the UK. Hardly 'British Bulldogs' as their mascot depicts! I WOULD like to highlight my experience with Churchill insurance A Churchill driver hot my car a nd addicted full liability should be an easy claim to settle nealy 4 weeks on I'm been lied to ai have been told by 10 different advisors from Churchill and gopart that my car is a write off. I was offered standard focus price 2500 back for my car after proving my modifications and arguing my case I was finally informed by liem Wilson good news Mr Robinson we now value your car at 8.000 we will take your car and pay 8000 i just need the lead engineer to confirm nothing has changed Low and behold now that my car has a value of 8k it's suddenly replaierble and Churchill will deduct 3k from the 8k I can keep the car and its no longer deemed as a write off very strange given the last 4 weeks been told car was written off and worth 2500 I was not happy but expected the news from a joe Butler who told me he was a head engineer and his new assessment stated the car could be fixed for 3.000 so he is taking from the 8.000 I told him I was not happy but to settle the claim I would take the deduction and settle the claim Joe informed me he was processing a payment same day of 5300 the car is no longer written off. 24 hours later I receive an email stating Churchill have sent me a cheque for 2800 and the car is written off almost the opposite ti what was said and 3k short almost of the AGREED payment. Churchill tried to say my bank details where incorrect so they had to pot a cheque 5 days on no cheque no payment no call back from management no contact what so ever. I have since made contact with Churchill 3 times i have been told twice a manager would call me back in 24 hours 5 days later no contact no miscalls nothing. Yesterday I received another email from Churchill stating they had send a payment and case was closed Absolutely horrendous business to deal with I hope no one else has to endure what I have been though in the last 4 weeks Needless to say I have requested a full transcript of all phone calls and I will be escalating to the insurance ombismam Please avoid Churchill ypu ahev been warned Reviewed on: 18th February 2025

Out of my 6 years of driving I will never ever be going back to Churchill let me run this down for you started with the company from July were now in November I've rang up 5 times over the last 4 months for them to tell me they have a IT problem and they will ring me back never heard nothing back decided to ring back for the last time In this November for them to tell me there's a defect with my insurance. After already taking a payment off me they then tell me they need to cancel my insurance start a new one and take another payment again in the same month with no refund after all I wanted was my no claims discount protecting adding on which I already added on from the start then once the insurance started they decided it wasn't protected after 4 months of IT issues they tell me oh we can now add protected no claims that they also confirmed I put it on in the first place to also say sorry for the amount of times ive called and no call back for them to turn around and say yes we can add it but need to cancel and take another payment with just a sorry. That's my last time using this company and stay away never had a issue with anyone else apart from these shocking Reviewed on: 21st November 2024

Churchill changed my policy without my permission

Churchill changed my policy to remove breakdown cover without my permission. I called to remove DriveSure from my policy because it is a massive pain where you have to input every time you are in a vehicle that is not driven by you. When I called to remove it, they also removed my breakdown cover without notifying me! I called to tell them but they didn’t believe me and they said they would have to listen to the call back. Each deadline they set to get back to me they missed. I called back 3 times and each time they had not investigated. Calling them is a pain, so many automated security question that are then repeated as soon as you speak to somebody. They couldn’t even give me quote to add breakdown back on so I have no breakdown cover at the minute. Having to avoid long drives for now until they can sort it.
