Excellent service in the bishop Auckland branch was immediately greeted by Lauren and she helped me open my first savings account with DBS by asking questions and made sure i opened the correct account that suited my needs. Reviewed on: 19th January 2021

Messed my life up

The title might sound extreme, however they have taken over 5 months to decide if I can have that mortgage. After 5 months they say my wage slip isnt good enough. They had that wage slip 5 months ago! I am an emergency worker snd every emergency worker has that on their wage slip... but because taken them so long.. i will miss the stamp duty break and also miss out on the help to buy... plus they took £350 of my money for a valuation they didnt do! The process from my application has been dealt with by a very professional and friendly mortgage adviser at Darlington BS who has gone to extra lengths with emails and quick responses to reassure and advise me of each stage of my application through to the issuing of my mortgage offer. There has been significant delays during this time due to solicitors issues as they were not actively on panel at Darlington building society and experienced complicated issues with ‘Lender Exchange’ to become recognised as a firm of solicitors resulting in amendments with the law society updating their system to allow the solicitors firm to become active and on panel. This has led to a 6 month delay ! In my conveyancing process and frustrations with all parties concerned. I would have preferred to use a firm of solicitors who were already ‘on panel’ through lender exchange to avoid the problems I have experienced in what is already a stressful time when selling and purchasing property. Incredibly slow service, particularly valuation which was promised in 72 hours but took clsoer to 3 months. Very poor response to Covid, service greatly impacted Reviewed on: 22nd December 2020
