I opened a current account with Halifax after much trouble with my previous bank the account opening was easy and efficient they sent my card through within 7 days and set up all my standing orders etc right away no concerns or hassle a very good bank Reviewed on: 15th January 2017

Loyalty means nothing

I have been with Halifax for over 10 years and have always been a good customer (never over drawn, never in debt, regular income.) Over this time they have removed all of the perks of my account and refused to offer me a mortgage because of my "temp" contract - which has a secure salary and no end date. Everything is done online and there is no flexibility. Terrible bank, terrible service. Now I have my mortgage through HSBC and will be switching my current account to them shortly. Basic but manageable it is what it is and I need it

Good customer service / great internet banking site

Despite other banks offering tempting incentives to switch current account I have stayed loyal to the Halifax. They have provided consistent good customer service and are easy to get in touch with. They also pay you a monthly £5 for having a current account (though sadly that amount will reduce in the near future). Their internet banking site is excellent - one of the most user friendly sites i have come across. Reviewed on: 8th January 2017

The current account is extremely easy to follow online. One of the main things I like about it is the £5 you receive for running the accout correctly, but what I do not like is no option to enquire about things via email, there is just a phone number. Reviewed on: 6th January 2017

Complaint settled fairly and compensated.

I had a complaint regarding my Current Account slipping into the red for about 3 days and being charged for being over drawn despite having savings in my Account. Normally I would have received a text reminder on my mobile, however I had just changed providers and so was unaware of this. The Customer Services Department for Halifax rang back my home phone to discuss the complaint at my request. They not only listened to my concerns and set up my new mobile number for future text alerts they also re reimbursed the overdraft fees and as a measure of good will they gave me a £10 Credit as well! Very impressed with the Service, It does not normally pay to complain! Reviewed on: 4th January 2017

Halifax Hands Up

Halifax is great with most things, but customer service in branch isn't their forte. They are unhelpful and brusque, compared to telephone banking where they cannot do enough to help. In branch its too much hassle to do even the littlest thing!!!!! Reviewed on: 29th December 2016
