Awful - Greedy Banker *anker

Horrific company, even you have 50% deposit on a new home, halifax still wouldnt let you port and brrow. Worst thing is that before you sell to buy, they tell you they will lend to you to put you in motion for 2 sets of legal work, then when you are close to completion for both they pull the plug on you to force you to pay the early repayment charge, they make sure you cannot go forward and backwards to trap you in. Poor. Big regret using Halifax for our mortgage

Never heard anything from Halifax (we bought our first home 3 months ago) other than a letter to say when our first mortgage payment was due. No “congratulations on your new home” no welcome pack or anything. When I called I was passed around and not given any concrete advice or support. I haven’t been given any login details to check my mortgage payments tracking or make overpayments or anything. Incredibly cold, impersonal, and quite frankly feels like they just want to take my money with no good customer experience or customer service. Reviewed on: 13th April 2025

Useless untrained, unprofessional

2 months into our application and still no further than day 1. Delay after delay has been made by Halifax as they are using untrained inexperienced underwriters. Requesting document after document even though they had already received these documents previously. Escalated to their senior management who ignored the escalation and didnt even have the respect to respond. We are a premier account holder with Halifax but this doesnt have any impact on their respect level for you. Respect is zero from Halifax. Constantly tried to upsell insurances. Spend 1 and hour hours on phone then give a form to fill in repeating the whole process. We Wouldn't Change From Our Halifax Mortgage

We usually take on a fixed rate as the mortgage continues and we have been very happy over the years (now at 27 with 6 to go - we had a remortgage) they are always very helpful and I wouldn't change from them. Reviewed on: 9th June 2024
