Terrible customer service

My card got blocked so I couldn't buy any food for that evening! It then took 1 hour and 40 mins on hold before I could speak to anyone, meanwhile I twitted hsbc help and they were absolutely uselessly telling me I have use another card! The problem was I didn't have another card! This happened at 6.30pm and wasn't resolved till 9.40pm and at that point it was to late to go back out to get food! The lady I spoke to on the phone was so rude it actually upset me! I'm seriously disappointed. Reviewed on: 26th February 2016

Awful overdraft fees.

I accidentally went over my agreed overdraft limit by a couple of pounds and the HSBC overdarft fees spiralled into a mountain of debt. Every time I brought my account back into credit they would take more fees, which would take me back over the limit. In the end a friend lent me enough money close my account. I understand that there has to be consequences for going over the agreed limit, but HSBC's exorbitant fees are just taking advantage of society's poorest people. Reviewed on: 19th February 2016

Friendly service, fast & helpful app

Breaking out of Alcatraz would be easier than accessing my account!

The security on my HSBC account initially seemed like a selling point. Ah I my money will be secure I thought - great in the days of hacked accounts and stolen pin numbers. WRONG! All its done is create endless problems and obstacles in accessing my own money. From being unable to use my card to buy a ticket on the train to needing the daft pin keyring thing to access my account online and having my account frozen if I make any transaction remotely out of the ordinary. But the one that took the cake was being left stranded in India (even after telling HSBC where I was going) unable to access my money and spending a small fortune on overseas calls to HSBC trying to sort it and being told they couldn't do anything! HELP AFTER BEREAVEMENT

MY HUSBAND DIED SUDDENLY AND HSBC WERE SO UNDERSTANDING AND HELPFUL IN SORTING OUT MY FINANCES AND THE OVERDRAFT OF £2600 THAT I HAD BEEN LEFT WITH THEY STOPPED ALL INTEREST CHARGES WHILST I SORTED OUT MY BENEFITS. THEY KEPT IN CONTACT WITH ME TO CHECK HOW I WAS MANAGING FINANCIALLY AND AFTER ABOUT EIGHTEEN MONTHS THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT PURSUING THE DEBT OWED FROM THE OVERDRAFT DUE TO MY MEDICAL CONDITION. THEY ALSO HELPED ME BY ARRANGE A NEW ACCOUNT WITH THEM Reviewed on: 18th February 2016
