Review of the HSBC, Bank account:

Poor customer Service

1
Having been left the executor of my late sister's estate, I had the task of dealing with her accounts that were held with HSBC. At the time, I was very emotional as my sister died very suddenly. I found the bereavement department to be very unhelpful and was actually brought to tears by a very young and rude female and unhelpful member of staff. I was so upset I didn't phone back for at least a month. This call was completely different. I spoke to a lovely Irish gentleman who was so helpful and understanding, a real pleasure to deal with. He knew his area of expertise perfectly and was able to help me with everything I needed and eventually sorted the accounts for me. I just takes that one person to get HSBC that negative review in the way they treated me, but also proves they have some wonderful staff who are willing to help you in your time of need. Grateful thanks to the Irish gentleman who works in the banks bereavement section. Reviewed on: 15th February 2023

Does the job it says on the tin...

...and really that’s it. In terms of perks compared to other banks they are fairly week. I have HSBC Advance and the cashback offers are shocking compared to the Lloyds basic account. HSBC offers are often for obscure companies and only available for online purchases, while Lloyd’s has many mainstream companies which you would shop/dine with regularly and can be used in store, the volume of offers is also much better. Other than that they hold my money securely and it’s easy to use the app, but no more. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2019

Great customer service

No matter what you need, live chat has always been available to help. If they can't they direct me to the best line to call. The fraud team is also second to none. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2019

Never had a problem with them and they got me out of trouble so many times. Would recommend them surely. Great customer service. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2019

Incompetent

1
After attempting to open a premium current account for around 2 months, HSBC's incompetence has forced me to give up. I was told to provide ID at a branch for an unstated reason, then told they would contact me. They never did and when I chased them, I was forced to wait on hold for well over an hour off and on, they told me they had no record of my branch visit before later finding it, they said I was told to visit the branch because my address didn't match (it did) and then they refused the apply because of a criteria that wasn't even stated in the terms. Trusted Bank - Lifetime Account

I don't have any negative feedback at all. Opened my account as a "Griffin Saver" when I was a child and still going strong. I particularly enjoy the 'online chat' feature which sorts any issues quickly and effectively. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2019

Basic account works well - same as most banks, doesn't reward loyalty just new customers Reviewed on: 22nd November 2019
