Poor customer Service

Having been left the executor of my late sister's estate, I had the task of dealing with her accounts that were held with HSBC. At the time, I was very emotional as my sister died very suddenly. I found the bereavement department to be very unhelpful and was actually brought to tears by a very young and rude female and unhelpful member of staff. I was so upset I didn't phone back for at least a month. This call was completely different. I spoke to a lovely Irish gentleman who was so helpful and understanding, a real pleasure to deal with. He knew his area of expertise perfectly and was able to help me with everything I needed and eventually sorted the accounts for me. I just takes that one person to get HSBC that negative review in the way they treated me, but also proves they have some wonderful staff who are willing to help you in your time of need. Excellent service and support

HSBC have been my bank since their transition from Midland Bank to Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank. They have provided me with excellent support through some very trying times and always been at the end of the phone with advise and products to help me. I use them for business banking too, where they also excel. Reviewed on: 10th February 2018

Friendly staff at the bank

We are lucky enough to have an HSBC in ours small town, had current account for years and never had an issue. The local staff are very friendly and helpful - always take time to help and advise if they can. Telephone support is not so good however and feels unconnected to the bank itself - you have to phone a mail line for an appointment at your local bank and made an appointment twice through this and didn't work out either time. Been an HSBC customer since I turned 18....

and have stayed with them ever since. They grew with me though student bank accounts and overdrafts (yay University!) to my first job and 'adult' current account.
