A society which understands its members and their needs

A society which keeps its members informed and seems to have a focus on what as a building society should be its core business - very important to both savers and borrowers. I have found the staff at the 2 or 3 branches I have used to be very helpful and understanding. The range of products seems reasonable and the content of each of the products is clear. You ask for MY experience. On 22nd October 2025 my fixed term account matured and I closed the account and transferred the balance to a new fix term account. On 13th November 2025 I sent by bank transfer a further amount to be added to the account. This never appeared on the new account. I telephoned the office who made enquiries and found that the money had been received but placed into the old, closed account. I believe the lady was called Chloe who said that it would be corrected but not immediately due to a new computer system. On 21st November I sent a further amount which was credited to the new account. I telephoned again, about the 5th December and spoke to Dominic who looked what had happened. He telephoned me back and said that he could see what happened and that the money would either be added to the new account or returned to my bank. Since then NOTHING has happened. Pity you do not do bank transfer.

Pity you do not do bank transfer. I wanted to close my FRB and receive funds by bank transfer, however, you only send a cheque which at present is very inconvenient seeing as in Mid-December I fractured L4 of my spine. So as I have great difficulty moving I had no chance. Luckily one neighbour found out and visited my bank to deposit npmy cheque. I was ready to open a instant access account until I saw cheque and no bank transfer. Shame as I liked Mansfield B.S. Reviewed on: 13th January 2026

Easy and secure online set up :)

Very easy to set up new account online, a process which seemed to be very secure. Interest rates as good as they can be given current situation - I remember the heady days of 10%+ in the 1990s!! Subsequent website access has been straightforward and everything is well laid out and clear. Previously, I have had dealings in branch with very professional and helpful people.
