The Pinnacle of 'App Based Banking'

Monzo is the kind of company that 'listens' to it's customers and actually publishes that it is indeed listening. It then holds itself 'accountable' to certain timelines by prioritising customer requests. These are voted for by the outstanding forums- and it truly feels like this is (smart) 'community led banking' for this generation. The best recommendations are word-of-mouth and truly, I have been an ambassador (for free!) to herald Monzo's app and service structures. Give them a try- you will definitely switch to this enhanced way of banking. Reviewed on: 7th November 2018

The Bank That Actually Gets Me

Monzo has been a truly fantastic bank — and I don’t say that lightly. Unlike the high street banks that still feel stuck in a different era, Monzo actually adapts to how real people live. From Pots that keep my money organised without effort, to instant payments that just work, to little extras like gifts and cashback, it genuinely feels like everything is designed with the customer in mind. It’s the first bank I’ve used where I don’t feel like I’m “managing a bank account” — I’m just living my life, and Monzo quietly makes the money part easier. If a bank can feel human, this is it. Monzo isn’t just my bank — it’s like a friend in my pocket: reassuring when I need control, helpful when I need clarity, and always there in the background making things smoother. These guys are bloody fantastic, from switching accounts, to help dealing with fraud, to switching my pension over and also getting wages early. Genuinely great

It’s such a good bank! Easy to use app, customer support chat has always been helpful & actually resolve the problems. Savings challenges have been a super helpful way to boost my savings, as have the easy to set up savings pots. Cashback offers are good & the perks available if you upgrade are actually good. Debanking by Monzo ruined my credit

Monzo notified me that my account was being closed, and they couldn’t tell me why. I was being “debanked”. Nigel Farage got a lot of press coverage when this happened to him. I appealed to them for consideration, but was told the decision was final and they wouldn’t tell me why. They even suggested they were legally unable to tell me why. While this was true if I was actually committing financial crime, the fact that they reviewed and overturned the decision means that was incorrect. Unfortunately when they reviewed the decision they failed to communicate that to me. I then went through with changing banks, which was incredibly disruptive. It also meant the automatic payment of my Monzo loan was disrupted, leading to me falling into arrears while I dealt with their customer service and the ombudsman. I was eventually awarded £500 compensation. They’ve now dicked me about some more, so I might go back to the ombudsman. Take this as a warning - don’t trust your entire financial life to a faceless institution where you can never truly engage with someone. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026
