STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK

After 10 years of my loyal high volume (£100K a year) custom received a letter from Nationwide saying "we reviewed your profile and decided to close down all your accounts with us. You have 60 days to draw down your money and make alternative arrangements." When contacted the bank refused to say why or by what criteria the decision was taken. In 10 years I have never defaulted on my cc payments or overdrawn. Shocking treatment by the bank that claims to be for its customers. Reviewed on: 4th November 2016

nationwide never again

i open an account with nationwide ,everything was fine ok i receive my sort code and nr account after that they call me on branch to check my id was ok and told me to wait 8 working days and i will receive the documents and card ,pin etc on my home,ok i wait 2 weeks nothing ,in a meantime i gave this sort code and nr account to my employer to pay my wage,and they cancel my account without any information,i was on branch and they confirm this so my money i think return to my employer,they told me that after i was accepted they make some checks and they are not confortable with this and closed my account without any explanation,so why they did not check this before to open and to be accepted.i mention here that i never have any bank account in uk before this one ,and my documents like ni,proof of adress and proof of work are ok because they accepted this when i was in branch to confirm my id and adress .so be aware and do not do the same mistake like me to open an account with nationwide Reviewed on: 30th October 2016

Rude staff, terrible Customer Services

After a minor problem with my credit card I went in branch to sort the problem out. Got shoved in a corner with a phone to try sort the problem out myself. Credit card company on the phone wanted to speak to someone in branch to sort the problem out, however no one was around to speak to and when I did manage to get someone the really couldn't have been less bothered. Hung up and went back to the main desk where the rudeness continued. So if you would like to be treated as something that was dragged in on the bottom of your shoe stay with the bank that is Never on your side Reviewed on: 12th September 2016

Brilliant Service

Transferred an account to the Nationwide have received nothing but excellent service. Have had to contact customer service a couple of times when I was clarifying some points of the account and everyone was knowledgeable and helpful. Reviewed on: 11th September 2016

It works - simply

I have used the Flex plus roadside car service twice - and they are excellent, I also had a mobile phone claim that was dealt with really quickly. Reviewed on: 18th August 2016

Updated app with handy new features

The latest Nationwide iPhone app has been developed well - handy money-in/money-out feature to show how much has went in and out of my account; cool fingerprint ID for security; and even easier to manage my various accounts! Keep it up Nationwide! Reviewed on: 17th August 2016

Always so helpful and friendly

I have always been pleased with the service I receive from nationwide, particularly today when I phoned them to ask if I could change the payment date on some charges I have on my account. I wasn't waiting on the phone for long, wasn't put on hold for long when I did get put through and they changed the date with no problems at all. Changing from HSBC to Nationwide was a very good decision for me and I recommend others give them a try too. Obviously there will be some people (justifiably) unhappy with the service they receive from Nationwide but this is to be expected. Reviewed on: 16th August 2016

Incompetent and costly

I will be leaving the nationwide as soon as is practically possible. There is zero service from this company any more. They simply want to sell you something even during the course of a complaint. Its obvious their staff are being driven to do nothing but sell. A mortgage application takes two hours on the phone simply because they are trying to get information with which to sell you other products. Reviewed on: 2nd August 2016

Very close to leaving

Overdraft charges are ridiculous and I feel like I've been grossly overcharged and misinformed at point of sale. I have been fortunate enough to receive a refund recently but still do not think this is enough. Would like to close my accounts with them as soon as possible Reviewed on: 3rd July 2016

Friendy helpful staff always smiling

I have to comment on the brilliant staff in my local branch of Nationwide, They are always smiling and helpful. They always brighten my day and I believe are some of the most friendly people on the high street. Well done Nationwide on treating your staff well as their positive attitude towards their job is always on display. Reviewed on: 29th June 2016
