Watch out!

Went through the process of opening a FlexPlus account & you need to pay an extra premium if you need existing health conditions which is fair enough. Rang a bloke in Doncaster to run through health questions, got to the end of the questions and he hit me with the premium which was a little expensive but that was not the problem. I had a heart attck back in 2004 but been fine since no blood pressure, angina issues, never smoked etc. I go skiing every year without probems and when I have taken out insurance over all these years no-one has ever refused to insure me! The Insurance Company that nationwide use wouldn't insure me if I have a heart attack whilst on holiday even with a premium! What?!! So be careful before you sign up to this account at £13/month if you have any existing health conditions. Reviewed on: 1st September 2020

Claimed off uk insurance through my Nationwide A/C at beginning of April, no end of August, Have been asked questions like , The method you used to return to U.K from Australia after your flights were cancelled? Please confirm what your booking with Singapore airlines was for?. I could go on. Waited up to 90 minutes to speak to a representative, All I get is your claim is under review. Pointless insurance

booked a holiday in dec/jan to Spain for July. FCO advised against flying, rang nationwide insurance who said i could claim due to covid and needed to cancel accomodation and flights, did everything they advised, sent all relevant paperwork be told I could not claim so lost out on changing flights and lost everything. Complained and just got nowhere. So much stress and false information given to me....dont know how they can get away with it but they do. I would not recommend them to any. Great as long as you don't need to claim.

Covid claim from April still waiting decision, you cannot amend, update a claim, call or email them. They can call you at any time and you better have your details at hand regardless of what your doing otherwise its another 28 days, if your driving or at work then tuff. You can cancel your claim at any time! They ask for details they already have time after time, nobody qualified to make a decision, always referred. Don't complain to Nationwide its not there problem, who chose them. My complaint to UK insurance was upheld but they lost my details so had to start claim again, not once but lost 3 times and each time you must start your claim again, I cannot stress how unprofessional this outfit is, its beyond belief. 4 months and still waiting. Excellent Travel Insurance

After a pilot became ill and our flight was cancelled I had to organise hotel rooms for my Mum and myself. I called Nationwide to explain the circumstance and they didn't hesitate, there was no fuss just refunded the amount into my account. Reviewed on: 27th July 2020

Flexplus insurance - a complete waste of time.

Nationwide you should be ashamed fronting this insurance and as for their administrators ... UK Insurance a complete joke. You cannot get hold of them, they never respond.../claim they have called you and never do, totally unprofessional if you are lucky enough to ever speak to anyone. My claim has been going on for over 3 months... no closer than when I started. Travel insurance coronavirus terrible

I am a Nationwide customer myself. I own a villa in Fuerteventura - one of my guests had travel insurance in place for a holiday way before the Spanish lock down. They were due to travel 2 days after lockdown. Case being reviewed for over 3 months, all information supplied honestly, all discount for long stay shown - part offer Finally given, then 3 days later withdrawn. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2020

Travel Insurance claim

Very disappointing level of service from Nationwide in regards to my travel insurance claim. Began claim April 2020 and three months on still no further forward. Their online system to upload documentation is useless, therefore sent my claim documents by recorded delivery. Now Nationwide claim they have not received documents, even though they have been confirmed as delivered and signed for. How convenient ! The Claim process seems to be intentionally designed o be convoluted and difficult - in order that some claimants will eventually give up. Recent reviews confirm Nationwide are struggling to provide any reasonable level of service in this area. I’d recommend cancelling a flex plus current account, the monthly cost is no longer good value as the insurance cover is essentially worthless. Reviewed on: 19th July 2020

BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Any time I've ever reached out to Nationwide on twitter, they've responded straight away with a resolution to my problem or query. Their flex plus account is brilliant and considering you only pay a small fee each month, the benefits like phone & travel insurance alone are worth it :) Reviewed on: 10th July 2020
