We used a broker so not a lot of direct experience with Newbury but we were able to get a mortgage with my partner working as a contractor which wasn't open to us with other banks, so from that perspective Newbury were fantastic Reviewed on: 22nd April 2024

Worst remortgage I’ve ever experienced

I’ve remortgaged to new lenders around 30 times. I’ve never had such a bad experience. If I hadn’t been liable for such high interest rates on my existing mortgage, I would have gone elsewhere. I feel like I’ve been treated with suspicion and lack of care, you need to take a walk through your customer experience in the shoes of someone in my position and learn how to make it more customer centric! Personal service despite a slight hitch!

Most of our dealings with Newbury Building Society about our remortgage were dealt with by our broker. We did have direct contact with one of Newbury's underwriters, Sezanne Brear. She was extremely helpful. However, earlier in the process there was an unfortunate hold up when, it appears, the valuer appointed by Newbury to check our house took nearly two weeks to return his report. As a consequence, our completion date was delayed, adding to our costs. Reviewed on: 10th April 2024
