Stay away to avoid Heartbreak in time of need! We have been with Petplan for over 7 years. We took out a lifetime policy, and by this year the annual premium was £4,000, with payments of around £18... Read more Reviewed on: 20th July 2026

Our Westie Doug suffered a serious cruciate injury 8 months ago. After conservative treatment, including hydrotherapy, he was still hopping around on three legs. Our vet advised TPLO surgery which has been a complete success, Doug is now pain-free and well on the way to a full recovery. Petplan have been excellent throughout, we had no worries about the cost of the operation, hydrotherapy or physio sessions. Having no worries about the cost is brilliant but Petplan are also very supportive whenever you contact them. They understand that illness or injury of a pet is a major issue for owners and are always helpful. Reviewed on: 19th August 2017

Excellent

Petplan are and always have been great. Excellent customer service, prompt payment and now quibbling about money. Yes they may seem expensive but you get what you pay for. I always recommend them over anyone else. Reviewed on: 19th August 2017

Pet plan gave my dog a fighting chance.

My rescue Collie cross was really poorly last year. The vets had to carry out many diagnostic tests including a bone marrow biopsy to determine what was wrong with her. She had a blood transfusion and was eventually diagnosed with Non regenerative Heamalytic Aneamia. She has been on medication for 12 months and recently came off altogether. It has been a long, stressful year but our dog is full of beans again and fighting fit at the moment. If we were not insured with Pet Plan I really do not know what we would have done as they paid out £4000, which is money we do not have. Pet plan took the worry of financial issues away and let us concentrate on getting our girl well again :) Reviewed on: 19th August 2017

Petplan - simply the best!

Annie has been with Petplan since I adopted her when she was 4 years old. She is now 13 years old and I had to make my first claim with her 12 months ago. I was concerned that my claim would not be successful because, with Annie being a rescue, I do not have her full medical history. I rang Petplan and was assured that I just needed to provide a covering letter explaining the situation along with the claim form. Sure enough within a couple of days of receiving my claim it had been settled. Annie is now on long term medication and has recently had to undergo tests relating to her condition. All claims are settled promptly, with payments now going direct to my Vet. Fabulous service and support from Petplan which enables me to provide the best care and appropriate medication and treatment for Annie. My Petplan policy is worth every penny. There may be cheaper policies available in the marketplace, but with Petplan I know I have peace of mind that claims are settled quickly and there is someone at the end of the phone to answer questions and give advice. As a veterinary nurse i always recommend petplan for lifelong pet insurance. As a customer i couldn't ask for a better insurance provider they provide the security of knowing that my pets are able to have the best veterinary treatment when they are ill/injured. Having claimed several times for various animals petplan have always been extremely helpful and supportive explaining everything clearly and best of all settle the claims directly to the vets. Excellent cover

Recommended numerous times, not the cheapest cover but not had premiums increased hugely despite claims for several animals with a serious illness and being older. Reviewed on: 19th August 2017

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse I see the benefits

Knowing that my premium won't go up because I've claimed is my favourite thing about Petplan. I have experience as both an owner and Veterinary employee. They are quick, fair and use common sense when dealing with claims. Reviewed on: 19th August 2017

Cannot do enough

Reluctantly took out insurance for our Yorkshire Terrier Lennox in 2014 expecting to never need it. In 2016 Lennox became one of those horror stories, when a routine blood test flagged up a life threatening condition. From the off Petplan made claiming simple and straightforward, ensuring we could focus all attention on Lennox getting well. Lennoxs operation and subsequent recovery was filled with setbacks but we had constant communication and reassurance from Petplan. 18months later and although not cured, thanks to our veterinary surgeon AND PETPLAN (and our Cover for Life policy) Lennox is living life to the full and we're not worrying about vet's bills. Cannot rate highly enough. Love our pet, love Petplan! Reviewed on: 19th August 2017

Only the best...................

Having had my pets insured with Petplan for decades (!!) I believe that more or less tells people what I think. At no point have we been disappointed with our cover. We have had several big issues; from our Welsh Springer Spaniel who was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy (Petplan covered diagnostic tests and maintenance tests as well as drug costs throughout her life); a German Shepherd with a near fatal attraction to sticks who required stitching up; and more recently a Welsh Springer with adrenal gland carcinoma. In all cases it was a relief not to have to bean count with the healthcare for our beloved pets. We are grateful. Reviewed on: 19th August 2017
