Stay Well Clear of Santander

The worst bank and customer service on the planet! I have had a lock placed on my account and the reason they gave me was that i have used contactless payment too much. Now considering i have spent the last 3 weeks in Singapore and never use the card as i dont want to pay their extortionate rates. I transfer from the bank to Wise. Now they have blocked it and tell me i have to buy something in Singapore and put my pin number in to release the block. Its the only way i can unblock it! Santander are a joke and i shall be closing the account down because of this. Complete failures! still waiting on the line for the fraud team to unblock this bar and been waiting over an hour so far. i am stuck in Singapore without access to my money. santander from top to bottom

123 account has now the poor interest rates capped payments and high charges, they obviously don't want my custom. I asked for a interest for year 18/19 still haven't received it. To cap it all they have now employed ant and dec as the face of Santander. Reviewed on: 7th February 2020

Diminishing benefits

Moved to Santander 123 for interest on £20,000 and payback on direct debits. Then they reduce interest rates and cap payments on direct debits. More like minus 123. Reviewed on: 7th February 2020

Changes

Looking to now change banks as benefits and charges on Santander Accounts are reducing and increasing. Also local banks are closing making it difficult for face to face dealings. Reviewed on: 6th February 2020

Great account for students and graduates

I have been with Santander since I started University as they offered the railcard which was handy and saved me a lot of money when travelling to and from Portsmouth to visit home or other universities. The overdraft facility was a massive help during my time at University and in the year after graduating as I was struggling with money. I can't thank them enough for helping me get through University! Reviewed on: 5th February 2020

Didn't resolve or repay fraud on my account

I was a victim of fraud on my current account. I spoke to the fraud department as soon as I noticed and they have been of absolutely no help whatsoever. I got told at one point that "we're seeing more and more fraud of this type" by one of the fraud team. Well that's wonderful, why then aren't you doing something to protect my money and close down an obvious flaw in the system. Absolutely useless and I still haven't got a penny back, 2 months on. I am reporting them to the financial ombudsman and I advise you all to never ever use this bank. I am certainly closing my accounts with them. Reviewed on: 4th February 2020
