Review of the Santander, Business Current Account:

DO NOT TRUST - they are fraudulent

They put a lock on my account, meaning I cannot access my account. They cannot give me a reason why. I have called them several times to resolve the issue, I’ve spent hours on hold, been transferred to all their different teams, I’ve been made promises such as I would receive a phone call within a certain time frame, which I never did… This has been going on for several month now. Nobody can tell me why my account has a block on, nobody can unblock my account, and I cannot even speak with a manager or anybody who can tell me why this is happening or has the authority to remove the block. This means I can receive payments but cannot make any payment. Not even direct debit can leave my account apart from THEIR bank charges. I’ve been their customer for over 10 years and I had ongoing payments from my account until this happened. They don't value their customers. I don’t even know if I will ever be able to access my money on my Santander business account. It seems like they have just stolen everything I had on that account. DO NOT TRUST Santander!!!! They are fraudulent. Additional update: As my case is developing, I have learnt that the reason Santander would not give out an email address to any customer who would like to complain is because in order to raise an issue at the Financial Ombudsman you would need written correspondence. At least it would make your case more straightforward. I somehow managed to find an email address on the internet (not on their website) and tried to email them but received an automated response that I would not receive a reply to my email as they are not responding to emails "in order to be able to deal with complaints faster". So they are very crafty criminals therefore I would advise anyone to try to stay away from them, but if you are already in their trap, like I am, record all phone conversation and write to them postal letters with recorded delivery. Still waiting...

Further to my earlier review, I'm still waiting to hear back from Santander - 3 months later. I have written to them 6 times asking them to delete the personal data that they gathered about me as part of my application. No response, so I guess they still hold my data - without my consent - isn't that prohibited???? Terrible service - I'd advise anyone to try elsewhere. when One Star is an Insult

Based on recent experiences with the bank I've been with since I was 16, one star is even insulting. Kept on hold listening to music for 25 minutes then the red devils promised to call back between 12 and 4 today, which they never did so I have gone without the customer support I was promised by their call centre, even though I am a loyal customer of 12 years. Very poor, very shoddy work, Santander. Don't open a current account with this bank! Reviewed on: 14th May 2018

Absolutely useless

Been trying to open an account for 11 weeks. Just been told by one of the staff that I should go somewhere else as it’s likely to take weeks more!!! Impossible to get a response and I am know unable to receive my contractors pay as I have no bank account! Absolutely hopeless and totally unprofessional. Reviewed on: 9th May 2018

Do not use if you are a start-up

I have been trying to open a new business bank account for 4 weeks. As we are just starting up we do not yet have any contracts and agreements in place - these will follow once we are able to put in orders. Note that you can't put in an order till you have a bank account but they won't give you a bank account till you prove you have the orders - a classic Catch-22. Santander have been exceptionally unhelpful even when I've managed to get through to a manager to discuss the issues - they are just box-tickers who have done nothing to help progress the application. I'm not asking for credit, overdraft or loan just a sort code and account number. Their inflexibility over the documents required and their refusal to engage in a constructive conversation means that I have now gone to Nat West who have been fantastic - they have opened me an account within 5 days and they could not have been more helpful. Poor customer service

When I opened the account I got a £1000 over draft. Even though the welcome letter confirmed it but my account doesn't show and called them. They hold me on phone for 15 minutes then said we will call you soon and hanged the phone and never call me back. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2018

Absolute joke of a bank

Spent 11 hours on the phone in a week trying to get a payment cleared. They are unable to provide information, unable to provide updates, typical scousers for staff and very uneducated with no ownership of issues. Horrible company to deal with. Business bank account

Good account low cost.

After a year free I've just started paying £7.50 a month for business banking. Service is good, a little annoying you can't use the counter in branch but if I ever get stuck with machine or it isn't working staff are happy to help. Reviewed on: 4th February 2018

simple, effective, accessible
