I turned to step change in 2020 my marriage had bro...

I turned to step change in 2020 my marriage had broken down , and I was left with a lot of debts so I owed about 16000, at the time, iv been able to put all my debts as one payment, so far iv payed just over 6,000 pounds in the last 5 years I'm glad I did turn to step change, they have helped me sort out my debts and now iv been able to sleep at night Reviewed on: 24th May 2025

Brilliant service

Non judgmental. Sick with worry over debts but Step Change soon organised our finances and agreed a budget. Nothing was too much trouble. Easy to do online or via a phone call. When I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and the drop in income, they agreed a payment break to relieve the stress so I could concentrate on my health. Really don't know how I would have coped without them. Always kept them informed throughout my treatment and hospitalisation. Reviewed on: 7th July 2023

Saved my life...

I was embarrassed and anxious and afraid to make the call. I had dialled a few times and hung up but once I got the courage to do it, I was met with friendly, understanding, supportive, non-judmental advice. That was a year ago and I can confidently say that stepchange gifted me a second chance at life. I feel empowered and in control of my finances which has filtered into all areas of my life. Furthermore, once they took my hand, they have never let go...Stepchange have promptly helped me with creditor follow ups and also send over frequent savings tips and ideas (many of which, I have successfully used). Very helpful

I was struggling to manage my debts when I became pregnant and so I applied for a DMP to help with my payments. Step change was the only company who accepted my application. The customer service is superb very reliant and helpful. I highly recommend them! Reviewed on: 7th July 2023

Couldnt ask for better support

Good in a crisis, but ongoing support could be better

I first contacted Stepchange in a debt crisis and they were great at getting everything set up for me. However, despite knowing I have a disability that makes phone calls hard, I have to make changes to my plan over the phone. It can be diffcult to get an answer as they are oversubscried with the cost of living crisis. Overall I think my experience was good. Reviewed on: 7th July 2023

Incredibly supportive and kind

Going through debt management was something I really didn’t want to do (who does?) but when it became clear something had to change two people recommended Stepchange - my brother in law who is a business accountant, and one of the lenders I had when I rang about a missed payment. I was so so nervous - and it didn’t help I was diagnosed with cancer at the same time - but I have two say that every single person I spoke to was SO kind and SO helpful. I was never met with judgement or rushed off the phone. It made such a massive difference to me. I was also offered personal support such as the Samaritans and was regularly checked in with to see if I was doing ok mentally. What can I say!
