Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Having been medically retired and left on UC, my outgoings were now higher than my income. A call to Stepchange took so much pressure off, we worked out our budget and they dealt with our creditors to arrange payment plans. I was in debts of around 27000 stepchange has worked with me to set up a manageable budget and contacted each debtor and sorted out a manageable payment plan with them. I was using GW Financial previously but found out they were charging me a extra 4000 on top of my debts, stepchange is free so saved me money as well. Now I'm in about 14000 with one company paid off and 9 to go but I can finally see the light at the end if the tunnel using stepchange, they are friendly, professional and put my mind at ease, I could not have done it without them and being suicidal over it. I had struggled for years with debt and one day I just couldn't cope anymore. I was told to contact Stepchange and I immediately felt that I was rescued and had a team of people devoted to helping me. My biggest mistake was not contacting them earlier. They are angels.
