Transparently good

Pretty much the only bank if you want to bank sustainably

I'm trying to live as mindful of the environment and the planet in general; eating almost no meat, buying vegetables from local farmer, shopping second hand and cycling where possible, etc etc. What people often forget is that the capital in your bank account has far more impact than just the items you buy or the expenses you have. So this is the reason I only want to bank with Triodos, since for me it's the only bank that promises to put your capital to use in sustainable projects. Next to this I enjoy how easy and straightforward the use of the account is, pretty much all you need from a curremt account! Reviewed on: 18th January 2023

A truly ethical Bank

I wanted a Bank that did not invest in fossil fuels, or the arms industry, or support regimes who oppressed their own people, or were aggressive to neighbours. Industry leaders

Excellent bank - with a conscience!

2 years ago I switched my current account from HSBC to Triodos. I'd had an account with HSBC since I was a student in the '90s, but I read story after story about their involvement in funding companies linked with the arms trade (including nuclear weapons), fossil fuels, and the Myanmar military. It made me sick to the stomach that my money was going to such heinous organisations, and I resolved to pay off my overdraft and move my current account to an ethical bank. I had been trapped in my £1500 overdraft with HSBC for 25+ years - meanwhile the overdraft interest and fees were funding nefarious activity. After some research I chose Triodos and it was the best financial decision I've ever made. Their values align with my own, and I know my money is only being invested in forward-looking organisations with environmental and social values. Furthermore, I've received nothing less than excellent customer service from Triodos - everyone I've dealt with has been knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I would recommend Triodos Bank to anyone who wants to ditch their accounts with morally bankrupt banks. We consumers have a choice - if you find your current bank is funding activities that you find abhorrent, it's time to put your money where your mouth is, and make the switch to ethical banking.
