The AA, your answer to Admirable, Absolutely ace company!

I recently renewed my house and car insurance. The AA's web site was very easy to use, very competitive price wise, in actual fact, came out the cheapest in comparison to other leading companies I contacted. Their customer service agents were very friendly and helpful too. I can thoroughly recommend Reviewed on: 18th July 2017

Very Good Value

I found the AA insurance using CompareTheMarket and have been mightily impressed with the level of cover I got for the size of premium. Really helpful and friendly staff whenever I've contacted them too, with the inevitable but reasonable admin charge when changing address. I've not had to claim and hope not to, but they seem pretty helpful. Reviewed on: 4th July 2017

AA Ireland hidden cancellation charges

1
Insured my wifes car with AA, premium went up and when I challenged it I was told it was because of the age of the car. Changed the car for a newer model (imported from NI) and guess what, premium went up by another 250!! I cancelled for a cheaper insurance company and they demanded their hidden cancellation fees and also withhold no claims bonus letter until this is paid. Avoid at all costs!!! I use AA (I swap around a lot but this is the 2nd time in about 5 years I've been with AA. It's good value and very, very reliable. Plus they have plenty of phone staff so easier to get through than some other insurers. I've never made aclaim with them, but I'd give them 9/10. Reviewed on: 27th February 2017

Hidden Charges! BEWARE!!!!!!

1
So the AA Car Insurance advertise their cancellation fee as £30.00 which is a lot lower than the other insurance providers. So I went with them, I wish I hadnt done this now! So when I go to cancel I was expecting £30.00 plus any additional for cover up until my Cancellation date. So guessed no more than £50.00. How wrong was I!!! For just over 6 weeks of insurance (no claims made during this time) they expect me to pay in total £164.00 for 6 weeks and 2 days of cover! Sorry I am refusing to pay this, this was all apparently hidden in my small print and terms and conditions according to their customer service teams and they wont investigate this further. I have reported them to BBC Watchdog and the FOS and I warn you now: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! They are not open on a Sunday, which for me is weird for a car insurance company! Also they make you pay for anything you need to return to them and you do have to return signatures to them! Which soon adds up! There are also hundreds of BAD / Negative reviews about their insurance part out there if you search for them! I WISH I KNEW THIS ALL BEFORE!!!!! Spend more with someone else and get a better service. Reviewed on: 31st December 2016

Discusted

My partner had insurance with the AA til July 2017, they cancelled with no warning and my partner had her car taken by police on Boxing Day... is now having to pay to get car out of lock up plus her insurance is now sky high, we are taking further with ombudsman.. avoid them, there are plenty out there... they were no help and clearly wriggled out of it, wrong address on policy too, clearly admin errors on their part, pile of rubbish, will never recommend !! Avoid at all costs before it costs you.

I reluctantly insured my car with the AA back in May. I say reluctantly as I had a bad experience with their customer service. Nevertheless I renewed anyway. They then cancelled my policy without informing me in July. I have been driving uninsured since only realising when I got a 100 pound fine through the post from the DVLA. When I phoned to ask what was going on they said they had tried to contact me, a single letter which I never received. An email which went into my spam folder, and a few voicemails, which began halfway through a phone number before cutting out. This is not adequate notice. If it happens to you good luck trying to get anything other than a scripted response from their 'customer' service. Avoid at all costs, terrible company. Reviewed on: 12th December 2016

Huge Increase

Had a disastrous experience with a claim in my first year (2016) with AA & vowed would never use again. Took seven weeks from car damage (not my fault) till my car was ready for collection. Complained but got nowhere. Renewal cost now just in, £470.00 for next 12 months, £312 for 2016. What rubbish. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2016
