Absolutely deplorable

Absolutely deplorable. A serious business with 15 staff and world leading experts of many decades experience. A service business with no stock, credit or other risk. No one with any financial or other blemishes. I just get daft questions and constant "application denied" messages. Seems I am far from the only one. Evidently these people don't understand business, or cannot administrate competently. No earthly reason to reject this account (as per my accountants). Are they just data gatherers with no serious intention to open accounts? SHOCKING Reviewed on: 25th November 2024

Appaling Customer Services

Apart from the time it took to open my account (it was VERY long), I deposited £1000 so that I wouldn't get service charges for 30 months as per their advertising. Now for the last three months they have added a service charge to my account. Despite reassuring it wouldn't happen again - it DOES!! They reimburse the service charge but as it takes over 40 mins hanging on the phone to get through to their customer services this is extremely frustrating Reviewed on: 22nd November 2024

I didn't even get past the application process. I uploaded the documents they needed after answering many questions I might add. They could see I had uploaded the document, yet they couldn't read it. I checked that it was a compatible document which it was. They insisted it was my problem and wouldn't offer any other way of accepting the document. Reviewed on: 2nd November 2024

AVOID THIS BANK LIKE THE PLAGUE

The co op withheld my business account from me for A MONTH, caused my business to loose money, customers, caused me no end of stress, made me later with payments to HMRC, which I have been fined for. They did nothing to assist and gave me no timescale to resolve the issue. I was left unable to pay my staff, order stock or pay myself to cover my mortgage. My business fell behind on rent. THE CO OP DIDNT CARE, DID NOTHING TO HELP. I had to find the fraud case number from the other bank for them, only once I had got to the bottom of the issue did they do anything to assist. I will always warn people away from this bank, in 15 years of business I’ve never dealt with a worse company. Reviewed on: 6th September 2024

Don’t make the same mistake as me!

I do not write online reviews but my experience with Co-op business banking has forced me into action. I have very happily had a personal account with the Co-op for many years. I like the idea of a bank that invests ethically, so it seemed the natural place to go when I needed a business account too. I was aware of bad reviews for their business offering but my experience of personal banking really had been good, so I chose to ignore the reviews. Big mistake. 3 months elapsed time to open the account. Appalling wait times on the phone lines. A complaints procedure that routinely takes no action other than to mark the complaint as resolved. My first payment from my new account resulted in my access to my account being suspended and all of my funds disappearing into an audit control account belonging to the Co-op bank. Not satisfied with taking all of my money (current account and business savings), the Co-op then withdrew another, large, 5 figure sum, sending my current account deep into the red. Hilariously, they then charged me £20 for the unauthorised overdraft created by their failings. This bank is not fit for purpose and can not be trusted with your money. Based on my experience, I am surprised the regulator allows them to continue trading. Open an account with them at your own risk. Reviewed on: 9th April 2024

WORST ONLINE BANKING EVER

THEY won’t provide you bankstatments . set up a new payee is painful, would not log you on your phone , you need to carry you login detals and token all the time . to get through the customer service is imposible. Reviewed on: 24th August 2023

Nothing works!!!

I got offered £1500 to move to coop from Natwest and what a huge mistake that was! Nothing works! You can't move money from the current to the savings account on the app you have to go on a desktop and use the token, setting up payees can only be done from the desktop and then it takes hours for it to activate. The app constantly keeps unregistering me from my phone "due to inactivity" when I am using it everyday multiple times a day! My card gets blocked from being able to make purchases online regularly then when I finally get through to them on the phone they can't explain why it is blocked?! It shouldn't be able to operate as a bank and I am so glad to be leaving, 2 years of nothing but hassle trying to do simple things that other banks just seem to do easily. If I could turn back time I wouldn't of switched for £15,000 never mind £1500!!! Reviewed on: 5th August 2023
