One of the better current accounts out there

To be honest there's not many great current accounts out there these days. I'm not willing to pay for an account so of the free ones out there Halifax is one of the better ones. Although it pays no interest, you at least get five pounds each month so long as you transfer in 750 pounds and have two direct debits set up. Also you get a nice joining sum (when I joined it was 100 pounds). Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

Pleasant staff and straightforward to open an account

Having only recently opened an account with Halifax, I have to say the process was easy and pain-free. I was offered the chance to attend a meeting at a time of my choosing, where a quick credit check was run and my personal identity documents checked. All staff were very pleasant an eager to help. My new account was available to me immediately with online access from the get-go. My card arrived within a few days by post. The online banking website is not the prettiest or the easiest to navigate (although this may be to my lack of familiarity with it). I like that you can change the name of your bank account online to something more personal in order to help distinguish it from other account. Overall, I have had nothing but great customer service from this bank, where the staff always appear to have a friendly and happy manner. Reviewed on: 18th August 2015

I opened an account and was happy until my account went overdrawn due to bank charges.I was not working at this time so therefore rang to see if I could pay in instalments as I could not afford to lose all my money from my benefit as i had children.They were very rude and would not help me at all.I was left with no alternative but to open a new account elsewhere.I would never recommend this bank if you get any financial difficulties,They will not help you one bit. Opening a joint current account.

Having already had a Current Account with Halifax for many years with no problems, my partner and I decided it time to open a joint account with the bank. Choosing to open a joint account with Halifax was a great choice. The meeting was quick and straightforward as the advisor was very helpful and informative. The account was available as soon as the meeting finished and the advisor helped set-up online access for my partner. The cards then arrived within a few days. Overall, a great service. decent enough incentive now, no complaints

Halifax now give you a fiver a month for having a current account with them. Initially this was only given if you got paid over £1000 (or was it £1500?) a month, which i thought was a bit unfair as the people that would appreciate it the most wouldn't receive it. However now the pay in limit is less. They also offers with various companies if you use your card i.e 10% cashback if you use your card at Nandos, Morrisons, Argos etc. Reviewed on: 9th August 2015

Awful!

Awful customer service from my local branch, they are very rude and even if the queue is short you are waiting forever to be served. I had problems with my bank account and they were very unhelpful. I changed to Barclays straight away and have never looked back! Reviewed on: 9th August 2015
