Review of the Homeprotect, Home insurance:

Zero customer service. Total six hours on hold. Don't answer emails. No way to talk to them

Had a claim. We paid out thousands for repairs. Loss adjusters approved all quotes but Homeprotect won't pay out. They said 3-7 days. Now past 30 days. Reviewed on: 16th August 2023

Great company with great prices

Home Protect offers fantastic prices along with exceptional customer service. The process was smooth and straightforward, and their staff was always helpful and responsive. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great value in home insurance! Reviewed on: 12th November 2025

Good value and but website is frustrating

Homeprotect offers good value compared to other home insurers and still offers a personal service when customers contact them. However, the company is relentlessly automating and either intentionally or through poor software design the online service doesn't do what it says it will. Another insurance company, Aviva adopted a similar automation policy a few years ago and probably lost a lot of customers through its frustratingly non-responsive system. Aviva have recently made themselves more human again. It would be a shame for Home Protect not to learn from others' experience. Reviewed on: 10th November 2025

I renewed my contents insurance with Home Protect recently and had a really good experience. I had quite a few items to list and they took the time to go through everything with me patiently and clearly. Nothing felt rushed or complicated, and they made sure I understood exactly what was covered. It’s rare to find that kind of attention to detail these days, so I really appreciated it. Overall, the process was smooth and straightforward. I’d definitely recommend them. Reviewed on: 3rd November 2025

Good service and value for money.

Very good service. The only thing that was less good was the contact by email. I had a question about my renewal, and took three attempts on email and almost two weeks to get a reply. Reviewed on: 2nd November 2025

I've held a policy for over 10 years and never had to make any sort of claim so can't comment on the insurance side but one thing that really annoys me is the £25 admin fee to change or remove higher value items from my policy. I recently removed 10k worth of bikes from my policy which didn't reduce the monthly payments at all and with the added admin fee my direct debit actually went up slightly so paying more for less. I was charged again to add a couple of higher than standard cover value items and some of those listed were spelt incorrectly so I hope this would invalidate my cover on those as the items and policy don't match letter for letter even if common sense would tell you they're the same item. I know some insurance companies love a technicality to avoid a payout in the event of a claim so I hope they don't hold their own typo against me if I ever need to make a claim. I've looked on comparison sites and I'd only save about £10 a month for the same cover in a switch and I can't be bothered with the admin. I'm only still a customer because of my own apathy not because home protect are good in any way just fine despite my admin charges niggle and an ok price for cover. Reviewed on: 25th October 2025
