The most unprofessional bank!!! Do not waist your time and money!!!

I'm just shocked with the HSBC service!!! I have applied for a checking account and the account manager Courtney treated me with arrogance like if I am insignificant for the bank. She didn't give any options and just denied my application. They canceled my checking account application because I was out the country for 30 days and couldn't answer their calls. They are holding my check of $10,000 deposit and my application. I had already talked to two different people from the bank prior my overseas trip and they told me that they had all the information necessary to open the account. So, I asked to talk to Courthney's manager Paula (she was laughing with Courtney who was sitting right next to her, "small department" she said), so Paula said she would process the application. I'm mean...seriously, how many people and phone calls do you need in order to open one account??? Please, HSBC be minded that we have busy lives (I'm a nurse practitioner) and I can't be on the phone all the time! That's why I applied ONLINE!!! Reviewed on: 20th July 2016

Refuse to follow instructions

After more than 30 years of trouble free banking I now find myself forced to look elsewhere. 7 months ago we received notification that we were to be 'upgraded' to an Advance account, and a list of the 'benefits' of this. Having reviewed the 'benefits' we concluded that the Advance account did not suit our requirements. I visited the local branch and agreed that this 'upgrade' would not take place. It was upgraded anyway. 2 further visits to the branch finally got it switched back. A month ago, we received notification that the account was to be 'upgraded' again. A further visit to the branch, this time somewhat less friendly, resulted in an assurance that the matter would be dealt with.. This morning the new Advance debit cards arrived......... Goodbye HSBC, not wasting any more time on this matter. Reviewed on: 8th July 2016

Popped in to pay in a cheque and asked ad advosor in the branch for some advice. She was really helpful and advised me about the best way to minimise the risk of fraud and cheapest way to transfer money between accounts and earn some interest while still having instant access should I need it Reviewed on: 29th June 2016

I recently had a small problem with my current account and tried to contact hsbc to resolve this over the phone. I rang three times , was left on hold for 30 minutes each time. left messages for someone to contact me.Three weeks later no one has been in touch. I am now trying to contact them via e-mail but so far have just got automated answers. I think it will be easier to change banks Reviewed on: 28th June 2016

You won't get any huge rates of interest but the service is good and the online banking system is excellent. They seem to keep a close eye on accounts for fraudulent activity and the branch staff are friendly and helpful. Reviewed on: 28th June 2016
