Review of the Lloyds Bank, Business Banking:

As long as you require no assistance then they are OK (no money has mysteriously vanished from account, etc). BUT, getting in touch with them in any way other telephone is impossible.

As long as you require no assistance then they are OK (no money has mysteriously vanished from account, etc). BUT, getting in touch with them in any way other telephone is impossible. When I first opened the account I had a voicemail from their local business advisor. I called back and left and message but never heard from them again. Recently I needed to open a Euro account alongside my Sterling account. I wanted to check some details so went to their website. I had some more general questions so I looked for an email address as I was out of the country at the time. All I could find was a web form to complete and somebody would then apparently call me. I didn't want this as I was in Turkey on a course and rates to receive a call there are quite high. But with no other option I completed the form. Unfortunately each time I tried to send it came up with an error. I looked again for an email address. I strangely found a whole page where the business team celebrate the benefits of email (Did you know that 78% of small business find using email a great way of saving time?!); but no email address of their own! So, I took to Twitter. (Why have a Twitter account but not an email address?!?!) I messaged them and after 3 days (and chasing twice) I got a message asking for me to DM them my telephone number. I explained (in less than 160 characters!) that I was out of the country and needed an email address. I'll save you the long version of this story (honestly, this is the short version!!) but what happened for the next two weeks was random members of their staff asking for my telephone number, me telling them I'm out of the country, me asking for an email address, them calling me by surname, asking for my number, me explaining I'm out of the country and needed email... etc After around 20 posts and messages backwards and forwards they still hadn't given me an email address. They claim it's because they cannot discuss account details over email. I only wanted some general questions answered! And, surely it's as secure or unsecured as Twitter for answering general queries?!! (except you can actual send a proper question and get a proper reply, unlike the 160 character limit on Twitter!!). They then stopped sending any replies. Several days later I had a call from somebody in the business team about setting up a Euro account. She had no knowledge of the lengthy Twitter conversation, and general pain I'd had to get to that point. We went through the motions and then she was finally able to able to the very simple questions I had 1) What is the charge for having a Euro account? 2) What is the charge for making payments/transfers from the Euro account? So, the general mess of their 'communications' (!!) team made me re-evaluate my choice of business bank. Incidentally, during the Twitter mess I posted a message with the other three major banks included, along with Lloyds. All of the other banks replied and said they would be happy to take my business, Lloyds didn't even reply! So, still not sure which one I'm moving to but I'm going to move to another bank and open a Sterling and Euro account there. I've actually been with Lloyds as a personal customer since I was 13 years old (25 years!!). They have always been a very traditional bank and behind the times when it comes to technology. That said, in 2014 I would have expected them to have that crazy new invention - 'email'!!! Reviewed on: 11th November 2014

Over six months to open an account!

1
I needed to specifically open a LLoyds business account as I was to take over the running of some Shell service stations. Dealing with three different Lloyds business managers, being a British national and the sole director of a limited company with a very high personal Experion score, the account took almost seven months to be opened! Lloyds wanted to know in advance my turnover, which I was unable to provide as at that point I didnot even know which sites I would be allocated. Their delays effectively caused me to walk away from the deal. Reviewed on: 27th February 2024

Making illegal accusations

1
Sonia Janagal at Lloyds sends me emails saying that my personal credit file will be contacted to say i have defaulted on a business overdraft in a limited company i own. Yes i do have this overdraft and wish to pay it off in full. Yet Sonia my business manager keeps saying i am in default personally when in fact the money isnt actually due for another day (30/11/23). She says the matter is with recoveries yet this is another lie as the demand came from business banking and says if not paid by 30/11/2023 then i may wish have to pay it personally if demanded as i have a persoanl guarantee. I am happy to pay them but my so called business manager SONIA JANAGAL will not answer my question as to why she is telling me my personal credit file will be affected when this is not possible, She lies and makes horrific statements to me and only put the account into default when i advised her that i had been ill suffering from a mental breakdown in 2022 where i was sectioned. Even knowing this and knowing i am treated as a vulnerable person she keeps making up lies and telling me falsehoods which has taken a toll on me and my condition as i am still in recovery. 25 years i have been with Lloyds both business and personal and in that time i have never defaulted on anything, it is quite ironic that the interest on this 25k overdraft has now been put up to over £500 a month when she is fully aware that i am happy to pay this in full. Why would such a person be so cruel and vindictive to a sick customer who hasnt even defaulted. She is a nasty piece of work and Lloyds allowing her to do this are also nasty, cruel and misleading, thats if they even know about her lies. I am now waiting for the complaints team so i can actually repay this money. AVOID LLOYDS AT ALL COSTS, AND AVOID SONIA JANAGAL. I have all the paperwork and emails to prove what i am saying is the truth. Reviewed on: 29th November 2023

Business Banking - Breach of confidential data

1
Once again we received a company debit card for one of our Directors. The problem is this certain director left the company over 8 years ago, and despite filling in all the banking mandates and declarations no less than 3 TIMES! (due to Lloyds losing them twice) we still receive the debit card and until recently they were still texting him every Friday morning with the balance on the current account! We have had wars with them about this massive breach of confidential data, and yet it still continues... Reviewed on: 11th August 2023

Terrible service and do not care

1
Really shouldn’t go to far into it as I would write a huge essay, but no support in branch, phone is terrible they just want to tell you wrong information and get you off the phone so it’s someone else’s problem. Was left 4 weeks without a business account as they did the switching service but then didn’t give me a pin. And then wouldn’t deal with me as I didn’t have a pin. Terrible missed so much work trying to sort it, so many other problems and no real way to complain or sort it. Reviewed on: 31st July 2023

Too big and old

Phones take typically half an hour to answer. Then unless a simple question, a guess. No way of getting hold of anyone more senior unless you officially complain, then some months later you might get someone who knows what the are talking about. But equal chance of someone who wants to put the complaint to bed, with or without an actual solution Reviewed on: 5th April 2023
