Worst Home Insurance company !!

30 years of having home insurance and hardly ever claimed i unfortunately took out home insurance with the worst home insurance company LV . Please don't use this company i have had the most stressful week trying to sort out a simple job of replacing a toilet button and a part in toilet cistern that stop working so i couldn't flush the toilet . I rang to explain what had happened ( in my cover it stated i was covered for bathroom suite with plumbing it is a silver cover . I took a day off work to wait for the 1st engineer arriving he came looked at the toilet said he didn't have the right part he would order the part and be in contact . On the Saturday of that week an unpleasant 2nd engineer arrived with the part ordered by the 1st engineer he looked at the problem and informed me the 1st engineer ordered the wrong part and that “ he no longer works for the company as he couldn't get a grip of the job “ just great! he took a photo of the part and said he would be in contact once he gets the part . Half an hour later emergency cover rang and said the whole toilet needs to come out and to contact my insurance company and inform them i need “track and trace”. I asked do they not communicate with each other the advisor who was so patronising and unpleasant drove me crazy informing me i need to contact them . I was then informed by LV i am not covered for track and trace ?? I explained don't have a leak so i don't need track and trace its just the button and part inside toilet needs replacing ( this job previously 5 years ago was sorted on the first visit when i had Tesco insurance tgey use dyno rod ) I am now left having to go through a plumber who came out and said the job is no problem he's ordered the part and replacing it when it arrives costing me £100 . Why would i be told the whole toilet needs to come out ? Please save yourself the stress use any other insurance company but these cowboys . I had another 6 months on my policy i am cancelling it and going back to a insurance company that actually cares about their customers . I know they are few and far between but i should not have switched from Tesco . LV sort your policies out and be more transparent and give better training to your call centre staff especially on how to speak politely to customers! Reviewed on: 28th January 2023

43% Increase in home insurance renewal

I've just received my home insurance renewal quote which was £349.15 last year and £471.75 which is a 38% increase. This included a 5% discount as I have car insurance with LV aswell. Therefore technically it was a 43% increase in a year. I've made no claims against my policy. I called customer service and asked how they can justify a 43% increase? The reply was cost of living crises, inflation and more claims over the last year. OK then increase those who claimed on their insurance not the people that didn't. I've given LV one star for milking the cost of living crises. Reviewed on: 8th November 2022

Poor slow response to emergency hole in roof

Reported a hole in roof through which rain water was coming in. Took 4 days to send a roofer who came and took a picture of the house and left reporting that no one was home which was a total lie. Took another 4 days for roofer to come back. He did not even have a ladder. A router who wouldn’t go anywhere near a roof. Stood on the ground from where he couldn’t see any part of the roof and sent in a report that there was a hole in the roof which I had told them having seen it through my attic. He refused to go into the attic even to do any temporary patching. So, it’s taken 8 days for them to tell me what I told them in the first place !!!! Reviewed on: 4th November 2022

Floor subsidence and now building subsidence

Floor has dropped 2cm and cracking at foot of windows ( windows to the floor level). Carried out survey, said next step to send an engineer to take a bite hole sample. Never came and refused to pay for repairs. Comment from LV ware and tear! Estimate to repair £16,000. Now 9 months on building subsidence in same area as floor subsidence. Called LV, said they would get in touch 48 hours. 6 days later we called again said call back same afternoon, nothing. Another 2 days went by we called again and still waiting fir call back. They didn't want my business!

After ca. 10 years with LV (home and cars insurance), they quoted me a 75% increase in house and contents cover following 1 claim for roof damage in Storm Eunice, February 2022. Not only that, on the phone the operator was completely uninterested in explaining or justifying this, and was simply in a hurry to cancel the cover on the policy end date. MAKE IT UP AS THEY GO ALONG

Have been with LV for a few years,never had a claim,unfortunately my son and partner also insured their first home together with LV.Early hrs of 06/09/22 there was a terrible storm and the previously perfect garden wall was struck by Lightning,Lv have been awful using some building firm to asess damage,they were ok but LV said the lightning had not happened despite it being in our local paper Shropshire star the next day,we now await deadlock letter before taking the case to the Ombudsman and neither family unit will be using LV again!!! Excellent Customer Service

The claim was at after a rather traumatic incident. The care and compassion we were shown was exactly what we needed. I can honestly say that LV has excellent customer service. They did not give us a run around. The claim was settled speedily. In less than 5 working days the funds were in our account. The heart is real. Awful experience with LV - please avoid

Haven’t been able to claim for a leaking pipe despite it causing damage - it might be worth asking LV what they do actually insure as it doesn’t seem to be for the service you’d expect from a home insurance policy. Absolute rubbish. Was originally told we’d be covered now we’re going to have to find thousands of pounds to fix the issue. I would definitely not recommend this company.
