Travel Money

I tried to place an order for click and collect travel money last week, at the end of the process I got an error message saying the transaction has not gone through please try again. I tried for a second time and got the same message. I went into M&S Bureau de change in Milton Keynes and was promptly told it's nothing to do with them I need to contact click and collect. I called click and collect whom told me they have no record of any orders and nothing has transacted there end. OK, no problem, a little disgruntled I thought I'd go elsewhere for my travel money. I went to purchase the money elsewhere and was told my card has been declined, odd i think as the money is 100% in my account. I then call my bank whom were extremely helpful, to my utter shock M&S had taken two payments from my account equating to total of £3400! It transpires that whilst an order was never generated by M&S they had still transacted the payments from my account. This money is sitting in an M&S holding account and has been since last Thursday. My bank are unable to raise a dispute due to the monies being in the M&S holding account, a dispute can only be raised once the merchant has completed the transaction (even though the money has been debited from account). I spent 2 hours on the phone to M&S travel Money whom said because there has been no order placed they cannot do anything and I need to wait 3-5 working days for M&S to release my money back to me once the they realise there is no order that matches those transactions. I provided M&S with the date, exact time of said transactions, exact amounts and the authorisation numbers, yet still they are unable to give me my money back! So, to make it clear, they have taken money from me without an order being placed. I'm now incurring charges through my bank because I have had to borrow money to enable me to get my travel money, I have had to take time off work to sort all this out and I'm experience significant financial hardship! Who wouldn't after having that money taken. The money as of today still remains in the M&S holding account and M&S not accepting any responsibility of providing anyway of getting it back. Nice little earner for M&S, keeping peoples money in there holding account earning interest on money that isn't theirs. Reviewed on: 25th June 2019

Ok but a few problems

I was impressed with the quote from M&S and signed up for the product. However, they then contacted me to say that one of my previous insurance claims, even though it was one where I was not at fault (someone pranged my car and drove off), would make the insurance quote higher and I was forced into paying more than the quote. My previous insurance company did not make this decision and I did wish I'd stayed with my other company. Reviewed on: 30th May 2017

Excellent service

My car was insured with `M&S. Unfortunately I had to make 2 claims in a year - the second was a 'dent and run' driver! The call centre could not have been more helpful and polite. My car was repaired with no hassle! Reviewed on: 30th May 2017

Terrible service if you have a claim

They outsource claims to the most unhelpful and useless company called CoVea. They take so long to resolve claims. Even when you totally not to blame. Never contact you when promise, don't chase up witnesses. Registered complaint with M&S and even they gave in writing an incorrect contact number. Don't insure with M & S

Very poor response to a claim which took nearly 5 months to settle. We were between a rock and a hard stone and had to spend much time liaising between M & S and the insurance company with whom the policy was taken out. M & S very aggressive and unhelpful staff. Insurance company indifferent (Zurich) Unfortunately when you really need insurance and are victims of malicious damage M & S staff do not help. They just want to take your money. Please do NOT insure with M & S, they trade on their brand and so called reputation but fall woefully short in customer service. Shame on M & S. Churchill insurance customer service very professional, may not alway be cheaper but worth paying extra for peace of mind and courtesy. Reviewed on: 6th April 2017

Terrible experience

My car was unattended and parked in hit by another car. The insurance is fully outsourced - empty shell. You will have to deal with 3 or 4 third party service providers who will do what they can to minimize obligations under the policy. There is a suggestion that they will authorize fixing my car in a few weeks time. And I have premium insurance with all the extras. Big mistake l! Again be warned not a real insurance and they will do what they can to avoid coverage. Reviewed on: 13th December 2016

Had someone run into me. I did not claim - but lost my no claims!!

First i found out about this was when offered a renewal! They had let the offending driver claim on my policy without telling me! I end up with a claim on my policy damaging my no-claim bonus. Very odd company and certainly one I will never trust again. Reviewed on: 7th November 2016
