Fixed-rate mortgage with Nationwide

I have a fixed-rate mortgage with Nationwide and am very happy with it so far: the interest rate was competitive, the app works well, customer service has been great (in branch) when I needed it, and not least it’s a bank with some ethical values. Reviewed on: 26th February 2025

They let me down twice.

Great rates, easy to manage with app

Nationwide has consistently offered me some of the best rates, and made my life a lot easier in loads of small ways by making my mortgage easy to manage in the app and online. When my initial 2-year fixed rate expired, switching to a new product took me about 10 minutes and got me a way better rate. Couldn't be happier. Reviewed on: 6th November 2018

Heartless!

I borrowed £40,000 for 10 months. I was made redundant unexpectedly and had to draw company pension early. On top of the mortgage payments to Nationwide, I had to pay an extra £1,527.00 to them when I used the pension to redeem the mortgage. I found out after that I could have had another mortgage with them without paying the EPC and the same payments. How was I to know I would be made redundant? I should have been claiming a government pension now but they changed it until I'm 66. Losing 45 grand! It gives me no hope to live as can't get a job at my age. I would not trust them again. COMPLETE MESS

when I first started banking with Nationwide, they were lovely. Now I have to change my card details continually as they keep putting a block on it as they don't believe that it is I using MY OWN MONEY. They keep claiming its been bloody compromised. I DONT UNDERSTAND. Reviewed on: 5th May 2018

Great rate, great service

Having taken out a mortgage with Nationwide in 2013 I was due a review after my fixed rate was coming to an end. In the review the Nationwide staff were very friendly and helpful in explaining the situation and what they could offer. The bottom line: they gave me a rate that means I can still pay what I've been paying for the last 5 years but because of the lower rate means I will be mortgage free sooner than expected having wiped 8 years off the term. In addition, I got £100 cashback for my loyalty. Reviewed on: 1st May 2018

Great price
