Great cover but very pricey! We were with them for years but cancelled some years back as it wasn't worth paying - putting half the money aside in a savings account would have been more than enough if we needed it. Reviewed on: 31st July 2016

I bought two chinchilla persian kittens for my wife a boy and a girl. The boy was very pretty, prettier than the girl, and at first they were both thriving but within five months' the boy was dead. He had a rare and debilitating disease which left him breathless it was heartbreaking to see the girl become more and more dominant and he sleeping wherever and whenever he could, my hoodie hood being one favourite place. The look of fear in his eyes as he tried to catch his breath was heart-wrenching. Petplan paid for very expensive drugs and never once mentioned putting him to sleep, they even gave us money as recompense when we decided that it was all too cruel and tearfully asked the vet to end his short life. I first went with Petplan as I had heard only good things about them. However I was still a bit sceptical as they are an insurance company after all! But since my cat has suffered with recurring cystitis this year they have been nothing but helpful. Easy claims process, helpful emails and letters to let me know how my claim is going, and nothing too hard or complicated. The cover I chose resets every year for the life of my pet which really puts my mind at ease that my cat is looked after. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2016

Simple To Set Up

Not having had a dog before I did find the idea of arranging pet insurance daunting as a few sites where too complicated with all the "extras". I was recommended Petplan by a friend so logged on and it was so easy. It was an easy form to fill in you could choose your level of insurance and each part of the plan has its own explanation so you know exactly what you are getting.I had the policy sent to me via email and they also sent it out via post. Such a relief to know that my new best friend is covered by a reputable company. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Leaving my dog to die after telling me I *was* insured

My dog had an insurance certificate from petplan so when she had an accident whilst out in the woods treatment was started. However there was a potential problem with the cover so I phoned to check this and was categorically told that there was no problem. Treatment continued but there were complications and her life was at risk. Petplan, however, had already cancelled my policy before they told me it was definitely valid despite the potential problem. They have refused to budge despite the problem being nothing to do with me neither did I have the chance to verify the details so I couldn't have spotted the problem myself. I can't afford the referral she needs. Her course of treatment would have been different without insurance. Thosé other options are no longer doable. Petplan will not help in any way and she's on a wing and a prayer. She might well at any time develop a punctured lung and die or need to be euthanased. The foreign body has moved and surgery is high risk, too. The scan she needs is a few hundred quid but there's no-one prepared to stick their neck out and accept that *they told me* she *was* insured which changed the choice thus course of her treatment. This is on the back of me having just lost my old collie who had been insured with them for 12 years. I'm telling the tale - you judge for yourselves. And pray with me that little Kerry makes it, please, as I have limited financial means - it's down to luck. Reviewed on: 2nd March 2016

I like Petplan.

My cat had liver disease last year which sadly proved fatal. This was very sad but the service I received from Petplan made it a lot easier. I could not fault Petplan, they paid out on every claim of which there were quite a few. I have nothing but praise for Petplan and would not hesitate to recommend them to family or friends. Helpfull

We had a cat with a blood condition that was long term, he needed chemo tablets as an ongoing treatment, and specialist consultations! Pet Plan always paid up without a quibble, and made the whole process of living with a terminally ill cat bearable! He lived with his condition for several years, and when it was time to insure a new pet we immediately went to Pet Plan again! Reviewed on: 25th November 2015
