So Far So Good

I initially switched my contents cover to Tesco Bank as the quote I got was so competitive; it was almost half the cost of my policy with my then current provider for almost double the level of cover. Before renewing last year, I used a price comparison site to check the quote against other providers, but it was unbeatable. My policy was quick and simple to take out and renew, and on both occasions communication was excellent and I received my documents very swiftly. Thus far, I'm a very happy customer. Automatic renewal Rip Off!

I have just received my automatic renewal notice from Tesco Insurance (31/03/2025) for the next 12months and they are “demanding” a 48% (!) increase in my premium. I have been insured with them for the past four years, always paying my annual premium in full up front and have not made any home insurance claims for well over ten years. No doubt if I am prepared to spend a lot of time contacting one of their representatives and negotiating with them they will offer me a better price, as has happened on every previous renewal ! I have already received comparable home insurance quotes from the various online comparison sites and have been offered prices which are 50% lower than Tesco’s renewal price. So, this year I will on principle renew my cover with an alternative insurer, Reviewed on: 5th April 2025

2315383V I am extremely disappointed with the incompetence of the Tesco home insurance claims team. It has now been over 72 hours since I was promised a call from the claims manager, and I have yet to receive any communication. This lack of follow-up is unacceptable and reflects poorly on how the company treats its clients. My initial conversation with the claims handler, Julian, was frustrating. She was not only rude but also unhelpful, displaying aggressive behavior and making judgmental remarks. When I raised a complaint about her conduct and asked to be transferred to another team, she abruptly cut the call, leaving me without any assistance. Following that, I spoke with John, who was somewhat more understanding and apologized for Julian's behavior. He assured me that the manager would call back. However, after waiting an additional 48 hours with no call, I reached out again and spoke to Sarah. Unfortunately, she was equally unhelpful and seemed to lack the necessary knowledge to assist me. Her dismissive attitude only added to my frustration. Despite my insistence that the 48-hour window had passed, Sarah insisted that I had to wait longer, only to later confirm that I had indeed crossed the threshold. She mentioned that the manager's line was busy but assured me that I would receive a call back. Yet, here I am, over 72 hours later, still waiting. This entire experience has been incredibly stressful and disheartening. We pay for insurance for protection during difficult times, not to be met with rudeness and incompetence. Tesco needs to seriously improve its claims process and customer service. I will be escalating this complaint further, as this is simply not acceptable. Reviewed on: 8th February 2025

Relief at the excellent service received from Tesco.

My hearing is very impaired which causes confusion as I am elderly. However Faz who dealt with me with my next year's insurance was brilliant. He was very patient and helpful and could not have done more to assist me. Due to my hearing being even more impaired due to a bad cold Faz was amazing, he could so easily have become exasperated but he remained calm and patient. Tesco home insurance renewal Scam

Had Tesco home insurance. Renewal came through by email whilst I was in holiday so didn’t get round to renewing it until the day it expires. Rang up as I hadn’t been able to get onto their website, to be told it had finished at midday that day & I couldn’t renew it. I was told I would have to start again as a new customer. The advisor then gave me a quote that was double the one I had had for the renewal! Wouldn’t budge at all so I went elsewhere for my insurance. Reviewed on: 17th December 2024
