A refreshing take on banking

Communication from Triodos about how my money is used is clear and makes me feel like I’m part of something fair and thoughtful. Mainstreaming ethics in financial management

I have been a long-term customer (30 years +) of the Co-operative Bank because of its public stance on ethics, its co-operative structure rather than a shareholder-led entity, and the lack of any other similarly ethical offering from the very large number of banking institutions in the UK and Ireland. Even before the Co-op Bank collapsed in 2013, I had been looking for other, more socially and environmentally focussed banks, and eventually dioscovered Triodos Bank, with whom I became a very modest Depository Receipts holder. When the opportunity to have a current account with Triodos emerged, I quickly seized the opportunity, and have been impressed by their diligence, professionalism and unerring focus on sustainability, environmental activism and social concern ever since. Triodos publishes all its loans and its sources of income; it attempts to evaluate "the triple bottom line" - profits, people and planet - and I feel that it currently (2022) is way out ahead of all other banking institutions in the degree to which it does this and the impact it has on the wider society. Even apart from the (hugely important ) ethical issues that all banks ought to consider, Triodos is an excellent provider of banking services and I couldn't dream of going elsewhere for the management of my spending and saving behaviours. Ethical efficient bank

We recently moved from one of the big banks to Triodos and have not been disappointed, yes they are much smaller but they are a lot more ethical & we trust them. So far the customer service has been excellent Reviewed on: 15th January 2022

Triodos Bank is completely ethical

I joined Triodos Bank for my current account solely because of its ethical stance, after going to an internet site which gave me comparative information on bank investments. I was particularly concerned about other banks' disregard for climate change issues. In addition to this I knew from an ISA I had had with Triodos some years ago about its other non-ethical practices, as well as its refusal to invest in non-fossil fuel companies. I have found its customer services thoughtful, informative, and second-to-none whether by on the page, phone, message, or other means. Any enquiry from me has had swift, detailed and helpful response--tailored personally to my request. It is the best bank I have used for my accounts and completely ethical too, and gets my vote as the best bank in the UK, which I recommend all the time to friends and family. First Class Bank

As soon as I found Triodos had a personal savings account I opened one, as a result when they started personal current accounts I was asked if I would like to open one. I had been looking to change my current account to an ethical bank for some time so I jumped at the chance. That was many years ago, I have never had any problems with my account. Any time I have had to contact them I have managed quickly to speak to someone who has understood my question and been able to help me. The only truely ethical bank

Triodos is the only bank doing what all others should already be doing to mitigate a climate catastrophe. While banks like Santander, HSBC, etc. are openly pledging to support the Paris Agreement and pledging to reach net zero they also continue to lobby for projects, like Cambo and continue to be major investors in the fossil fuel industry. Triodos offers a decent service, transparency and peace of mind. If you care about the world children growing up now will inherit - or just want to know you will actually be able to have a retirement - banking with them is an excellent step in the right direction. They deserve all the support, I hope to see them succeed and expand and offer other products, like mortgages in the future. Reviewed on: 15th January 2022
