AVIVA Health Insurance - Cold Stonewallers

My partner and I have tried to make genuine claims, but AVIVA ask so many questions and it appears they have an offshore company doing their assessments - as you get replies at 0500hrs. There customer service is awful and when my first claim was rejected - a call handler gleefully suggested that I should read the small print. One of their "overseas" reviewers suggested I may have a problem with alcohol. Read more Read less

are Aviva scamming us?

Pension 8th January 2026

I instructed Aviva to cash in my pension, filled in the appropriate forms and got confirmation in writing that payout should be within 15 business days of the 1st December, I booked a builder to do some work beginning the 6th January expecting the funds to be in my account by 22 Dec, nothing arrived! I called Aviva and was told there was a 5 day Delay due to the holiday period and staff sickness so I waited until 2nd Jan and called again only to be told there could be a further delay of 2 weeks??? at which point I had to cancel my building work. I lodged a complaint asking for a specific date when MY money would be available and received an email confirming my complaint with a case number and a contact phone number, however the phone number did not exist so I rang Aviva again asking for a payment date, after holding on the phone for what seemed like an eternity I was told that the payment team would contact me directly, as you probably guessed, nobody did so here I am posting this about a company I used to consider trustworthy. I am disgusted to think that Aviva are holding on to peoples own money just to earn a little more interest for themselves. Read more Read less

I have been trying to cash in a small pension for over two months. The initial international call took over an hour during which it felt like they were resistant to my well thought through decision. I've filled in forms, I've had countless long calls. The people you speak to are pleasant but I've had so my stupid obstacles as to why they can't pay. The back office are slow to do anything. I had a payment a couple of days ago & it's half the amount I expected with no statement to understand the payment. Read more Read less

Very bad experience with Aviva health insurance. My son was critically ill and admitted to hospital for three days after choking, which led to a cardiac arrest. The medical team performed CPR, and he was placed on ventilator support because his lungs were in very poor condition. When he arrived at the hospital, there was no air in his lungs, and his ABG results were extremely poor. We contacted Aviva to make a claim, but they refused it, even though I have been paying nearly £50 per month. I contacted Aviva to make a claim and spoke with their customer care executive, who told me that this was not considered a serious issue. I do not understand what they would consider a serious issue, given the circumstances. This reflects very poor service, and I strongly do not recommend Aviva insurance anymore. Read more Read less

Trying to arrange a one-off pension drawdown, I eventually got to speak to someone on my fourth time of ringing, who was polite and helpful. He explained I would receive an email with a link to a document to sign and that I would be sent a code by text. I just changed my telephone number so had to write to them to advise same and they responded 48 hours later to say the record had been updated. I clicked on the link, no luck, wouldn’t work. I’m currently waiting to hear back from them. again. I said on the phone and in my emails that it was pretty urgent. This complaint is not re the performance of the funds but the unavailability and lack of competency of the admin team - it ain’t easy to get your money out. Read more Read less

No lights with an 8-month-old, lowballed by 3K

I am currently in a dispute with Aviva (underwriting QuoteMeHappy) regarding claim [10578847] that highlights a shocking disregard for safety and the FCA's Consumer Duty. 1. **Safety & Crisis Management Failure:** A massive leak caused a total electrical short circuit. Instead of helping, Aviva and QuoteMeHappy "ping-ponged" me on the phone for hours, refusing to take ownership. We were left **without electricity for 3 days** with an 8-month-old baby. It was scheduled to be 4 days, and was only resolved because the **handyman himself** had to step in and escalate it to them, explaining that a home with no power is uninhabitable for an infant. It is disgraceful that a contractor cared more about my child's safety than my insurer did. 2. **Severe Lowballing:** They offered a cash settlement of just **£486.63** after the excess to fix extensive water damage affecting the subfloor, joists, and ceiling. I have obtained an independent quote for **£3,624.00** to actually fix the damage safely. Aviva is effectively offering 13% of the true cost, trying to use my personal refurbishment plans as an excuse to pay £0 for the structural repairs they are liable for. 3. **Process Failures:** The claims handler has refused to accept the evidence of the water bill and is trying to force me to open a "second claim" (with a second excess) for the same damage event to avoid paying out. I have escalated this to a formal complaint, but be warned: Aviva will bounce you between departments while you sit in the dark, and use every technicality to avoid paying to make your home safe. We are transferees from a Marks & Spencer Home Insurance Policy we held for over 25 years, but which was in fact provided by Aviva. So when M&S, surprisingly and dissapointedly, dropped out of this business , we assumed that it would be simple to pick up on an Aviva policy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Are there any staff at Aviva? Couldn't find any ! Read more Read less

I filled in all the extras etc and clicked protect no claims, however this did not add on. I tried several times to try and rectify this. I tried the online chat, calling up etc and I got rude replies. The online chat got me nowhere the first time, so had to ring up. After finally getting through, I told the lady the problem and after 2 minutes she ended the call after saying “I can’t do it”. I then tried one last time on the online chat before they closed and got the same rude replies, even though this was not my fault. I explained I’d have to cancel my policy, and it took them a while to say no again, and then say when do you want to cancel. Such a small thing but not something you expect when you’re paying a lot of money for insurance. Read more Read less
