Numerous policy mistakes. I was lied-to on many occasions about a false claim made against me by a cyclist and even though Aviva had NO EVIDENCE, they paid the claim then disqualified my no claims bonus under a small print clause known as Subrogation. This also corroborated the fake police report made by the cyclist which is currently in the court proceedings pipeline.
THIS ORGANISATION IS A DISGRACE TO THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY

Slow patronising

Trying to take my 25 per cent tax free . May take up to 10 days to send forms by email. Compare to partner who cashed in Scottish Widows pension in less time. Talk to you as if your a helpless dolt. Go somewhere else.

I have been a pension holder with Aviva for over 30 years. I am entitled to receive my pension money on turning 55, however, after completing numerous forms and calling AVIVA from Australia numerous times, I keep getting told to fill in more forms. I have advised AVIVA I want the lump sum paid to my UK bank account at age 55 in March 2021. Alas, although I provided this declaration complete with my UK bank account details, I learn more forms are required to be completed to receive a quote, then more forms to let them know how I should spend my pension. Come on AVIVA, if you want more interest off my money, then just say so.
If you are considering AVIVA, look at the 1 STAR review.....Don't bother.

Tip 1. when you go to the Doctor and they ask how long have you had the symptoms just reply "on the way in". Went to Doctors with pulled shoulder blade muscle from golf. 18 months later had to go with different symptoms and pain in top shoulder joint (not muscle strain). Turns out I need an operation which is NOT covered because I had complained of pain previosuly! Total crap service and 14 months of pain. Paid for the op myself and would cancel my companys health insurance if it wasnt for the other staff I have on it.

Bought my company’s private medical insurance from Aviva on advice of broker against web advice to go for the No.1 provider AXA. Turns out that if you have something as simple as a bruise or a pulled muscle (in my case) in apart of the body you are automatically excluded from any claim for absolutely anything for two years from policy start. So, if you pull a muscle in January one year and then have pain in the shoulder due to bone cancer the following year you are not covered. Better still notes made by non medically qualified personnel are treated as if a Doctor had written them! MY strong advice is this:

1. When booking your Dr’s appointment just say you are ill with no mention of what is wrong or with what. Also only book a week or two before expected appt.
2. Do not say how long you have had the symptoms or indeed what they are but just say it started just before you walked in.
3. Do not mention or comment on any of your medical history.
4. Always request access to your medical records so you can see what is written about you.
5. Make sure if they diagnose something you are given the proper investigative procedure (X-ray, MRI, blood test etc). This will determine exact issue and if you then have another different issue some time later it should be treated as a separate claim.

6. Choose another private medical insurer.

Aviva have proved to be very expensive. Please check out other companies before renewing. My mother had her renewal this year which had gone up £200 since last year. She has a clean driving record, no reported accidents and has her house insurance through this company. I phoned Aviva to say that £700 was far too expensive and the AA along with other companies were quoting £309.00. I asked if they could match this and they point blank said that the don't price match under any circumstances. I asked why it had gone up over £200 this year and he said that there could be over 100 plus reasons, so too many to talk about. My mother has been a customer of theirs for many years and I felt this lack of customer care was very very poor. We obviously changed her insurance to the AA who were kind, courteous and very helpful. Aviva did not care about losing a long term customer. Shame on you.

Aviva is refusing to give me my tax free lump sum of 25% I applied after reading my options, and despite being retired, they are refusing to give me this. The first reason was because I can’t use the internet (I can, I do all my banking and investments online). Then it changed to they don’t believe I understand what I am asking for! Unbelievable. I left a comment on Facebook, which got a pretend sympathetic response, but despite me messaging twice, at their request, there has been no response. Avoid this company like the plague. We are now preparing a file for the Ombudsman. What do we save to a pension fund for? Yes, for when we retire. I am retired, and they refuse point blank to give me my money.

Recommend Aviva

I have two pensions, one with Aviva and the other with Scottish Widows (Clerical Medical). By comparison over the 20 year investment, sharing of information, past and current customer service and commitment, Aviva, are flawless. They are recommended.
