Appalling service

Online service deteriorated following IT upgrade 6 months ago - only works with one browser; several useful features not longer available. Service over past two months appalling - online only available 9-5weekdays. Long wait (2 hours 8 minutes) to answer a phone query. Not possible to add new users to account. No info from Cafbank on when this will all be sorted. Couldn't recommend Cafbank to anyone Reviewed on: 22nd August 2026

Keep your money under your bed rather than in CAF Bank!

We are a non-profit charity special school. Last year's upheaval in changing banking online was horrific, but this recent outage has meant that I have had to personally pay bills for my school in order to keep things working for our students and staff- when the money is sitting in the school's bank account. I cannot afford to cover our payroll though- and it is absolutely disgraceful that CAF bank has let this issue ride on for over 4 days. We are actively seeking a new bank and will make the jump just as soon as we can access our money again. Even keeping money in a shoebox under the bed would be safer and more convenient that using CAF bank! Reviewed on: 29th July 2026

Don't bother - it's a disaster

Like many small charities we have banked with CAF for a number of years. Prior to their changeover to a new platform last year the portal was user friendly and easy to navigate. The new system is a disaster - currently the portal has been offline for a week making it impossible to view how we stand financially, make any payments and even reconcile our accounts. if we didn't have so many donors paying into our account we would absolutely move to another bank. An absolute farce

It took a month for the application to be accepted. First we were asked for extra detail, o ly to be asked 2 weeks later for further information that could have been requested with the previous. The online application suffered a "known" issue that requires a paper form work around. Then the log in when the application was successful eas another Krypton Factor puzzle. I then discovered the 178 page workshop manual required to operate the account and decided to move elsewhere. Reviewed on: 15th July 2026

CafBank service downgraded in 2023 and in 2025.

We bank historically in a Savings accountwith Cafbank. In about 2023 we were forced to open an additional current account with Cafbank so that they could levy a modest £5 / month charge. We do not use this account - just top it up with £60 every year. Getting statements in Excel format is very cumbersome.. You have to download 12 separate 31-day CSV files and re-assemble them yourself. Their phone staff are polite and do their best, but I do not believe they have any means of passing on requests for improvement. Reviewed on: 17th February 2026

The new system is not user friendly, does not allow...

The new system is not user friendly, does not allow accurate long time period account downloads and most importantly does not transfer transaction references to receiving account making reconciliation impossible. This is effective criminal as it supports fraud. CaF bank apear to have given up on their new system with no further upgrades for 2 months. Reviewed on: 30th October 2025

The upgrade to CAF Bank online banking is a disaster

The recent “upgrade” to CAF Bank’s online banking system has been a disaster. Three months on, the system still doesn’t work. Despite receiving a username and temporary password, I cannot access the service because the OTP never arrives. Trying to get help is impossible. Calls are met with the same recorded message about “high call volumes” and endless wait times. There is no real support, no resolution, and no accountability. This has been the worst banking experience I have ever had. We are now looking to move to another provider. Reviewed on: 29th September 2025

New online banking is very poor

The new IT implemented about 5 weeks ago is still causing massive issues for us, payroll was a disaster, (building society account references didn’t transfer) and caused huge stress for my team. Long wait times to get through on the phone are wasting valuable hours when we should be using that time to support the work of our charity. I would avoid CAF until they get their act together. Like many others ,the new system appears to be a disaster. Having not received the original email although the primary contact for a charity I have lost count of the number of wasted telephone calls. Eventually I got through on Friday afternoon late, explained my issue was advised it would require another department to contact me on Monday. Needless to say I waited in all day and no call. Disastrous online banking upgrade and response effort

I see that CAF bank can respond to comments left here, but when it comes to having customer service operatives in place to deal with the unmitigated disaster of the replacement banking system for its online service then for 15 days or more nothing just an automated voice saying call back we are very busy. Before the rollout the bank was living in the noughties with its clunky system and now it has kept that going when they introduced a new online banking service that must be one of the worst if not the worst planned and risk tested tech rollouts in banking history Their reaction to that has been so lame it makes me wonder if there is any one there who knows what to do. They should call in an outside company to sort this out because clearly having thought the rollout plan was good to go they are not the people who should be rectifying this mess of a god awful s-show.
