Great bank! Great customer service, 24 hours a day, any issues are always dealt with promptly. Would be good if the current account paid interest as well. Reviewed on: 21st June 2025

Brilliant current account

I had held my previous current account for 30 years. First direct's current account switch offer seemed too good to be true but I knew people with accounts with FD and decided to try something new. I couldn't be happier that I did. The switch was simple, done cleanly and the offer was paid when I was told it would be. Really great experience with the company, everything is done through the simple to use app. I t is a joy to bank with FD. Reviewed on: 15th April 2024

So disappointed

I used to think First Direct had good customer service until I really needed it. I had been with them for about 20years. I fell victim to emotional fraud. It was such a horrible and persistent scam. They had no calls saved that’s how I made payments. They said because the payments were small there was nothing they could do. If the crook had been less clever or I had been richer they would have helped!!! I was never expecting full return just a nod to the fact that they were involved. They gave nothing. What made me mad is when I switched as a result they started asking me security questions. They were also sending me spin the wheel prize offers. They have the money to give people gambling prizes but not to compensate where they couldn’t help keep a customers money safe from fraud. Reviewed on: 13th April 2024

Always easy to deal with, great app and customer services. Always get through to them quickly when I have to call them. Overdraft is very cheap if I ever need it. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

Interest free overdraft and rapid response times

In my experience, I have found that First Direct have the fastest customer service live chat response times, being almost instantaneous. Having banked with almost 9 service providers, this is the fastest I have come across. Not to mention, they have a £250 interest free overdraft and no fee spending abroad. The highest interest free buffer of any bank in the uk. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

A solid bank

I have banked with First Direct for years and they have always been really very good. Good customer services, with a decent app. I do feel they have left their leading edge a little, and I did have a bad experience with them when trying to get a loan from them - they tried to charge me 2% over the advertised rate despite having an excellent credit rating. (I used Tesco Bank in the end for an even cheaper rate than FD offered. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024
