Review of the HSBC, Bank account:

Very helpful staff who go out of their way to help you (Kendal branch).

4
I travel a lot for work and I've often run into problems that HSBC has helped me out with. I once had my debit card stolen and it was difficult to get a replacement while I was abroad. However, the helpful staff at Kendal branch enabled me to get a new card promptly, and they also suggested making my mother a signatory to my account so that she can authorise such processes in the future should a similar situation arise. They really were very helpful! Reviewed on: 2nd January 2016

HSBC - Waste of Time!!

1
I opened an HSBC account online. They confirmed the account had been opened but after another 3 weeks I still hadn't heard anything. I went into the nearest branch, spent between 30-60 minutes there, and the guy apparently sorted everything out. However he now wasn't sure if they would still give me the £150 switching bonus which was being offered when I opened the account (and was part of the reason I opened the account to begin with). He said he would speak to the manager and get back to me - which didn't happen. Another 3 weeks later, and I have suddenly received 2 of everything: 2 cards, 2 pin codes etc. Obviously the first application has finally come through after 6 weeks. So I went back into the branch, another 30-60 minutes. The guy that helped me before is now away on holiday, and his colleagues are saying they cannot honour the £150 switching bonus. I've just decided to close both accounts (lets hope they can get that right) - really not worth the trouble - trying to deal with a bank who can't even open your account without hassle. I would not recommend HSBC at all. Reviewed on: 6th December 2016

Have an overdraft with HSBC and the interest is very reasonable. Usually is about 2-3 pound a month. Have had overdrafts with other banks where the charges are 1 a day which makes it difficult to pay off. Reviewed on: 20th November 2016

Nothing particularly noteworthy about this current account. Like all of them, interest rates are non existent, but no problems with the actual account. There is quite a good phone app that they provide, but I got locked out of it for several months when I lost my little plastic key fob. It felt way harder than it should have been to get everything up and running again. Reviewed on: 15th November 2016

OK

Online OK but delays when you try to contact by phone. Reviewed on: 15th November 2016

OK Apart From the Bank Charges

I've had an OK experience with HSBC over the years, they haven't done anything amazing but they haven't done anything terrible either. However recently I've gone above my overdraft limit a few times and incurred quite heavy charges Reviewed on: 14th November 2016
