Review of the HSBC, Bank account:

Not helpful

Moving accounts, what a nightmare. Reviewed on: 26th May 2017

Customer Service

I have been with HSBC for 16 years and have found their customer survive to be fantastic even when speaking to call centres. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Switching was painful

1
I decided to take HSBC up on their switching offer, however it was a painful process from start to finish. Very little communication, when I rang up to find out where my bank card was - I was told that one was never ordered. This was for my current account, not sure how I was meant to use it without a card? Telephone banking was a slow process, on hold for up to half hour at a time before getting through to a representative that didn't seem to understand the offer. Overall, although the switch went through, I have not been impressed with HSBC's service. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Found out branch was closed when I went to pay in cheque.

3
I can just about get by with online banking, I can't stand the call centre as I struggle with the accents and can barely hear and now the branch is closed. The account provides me with what I need, but I don't really rate the bank. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

SLOW PROCESS

3
Took advantage of their switching bonus of £120. It is very slow and a long winded process with forms being sent by post, then phone calls then more forms. once you get through that the banking is ok but nothing special Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Horrible customer service

1
What's the point of having branches if you can't even speak to someone face-to-face? Every time I use a HSBC branch I get palmed off to their telephone service which has long queues and rude advisors. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Silly easy low interest account

4
The best rate for student 0% interest and simple to use and understand online interface. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Terrible customer service

1
My card got blocked so I couldn't buy any food for that evening! It then took 1 hour and 40 mins on hold before I could speak to anyone, meanwhile I twitted hsbc help and they were absolutely uselessly telling me I have use another card! The problem was I didn't have another card! This happened at 6.30pm and wasn't resolved till 9.40pm and at that point it was to late to go back out to get food! The lady I spoke to on the phone was so rude it actually upset me! I'm seriously disappointed. Reviewed on: 26th February 2016

Awful overdraft fees.

1
I accidentally went over my agreed overdraft limit by a couple of pounds and the HSBC overdarft fees spiralled into a mountain of debt. Every time I brought my account back into credit they would take more fees, which would take me back over the limit. In the end a friend lent me enough money close my account. I understand that there has to be consequences for going over the agreed limit, but HSBC's exorbitant fees are just taking advantage of society's poorest people. Reviewed on: 19th February 2016

25 years and still with HSBC

Really helpful, never had a problem and I think I will always stay with them! Reviewed on: 19th February 2016

Solid performance

5
Their fraud team is spot on looking for unusual action on your account and taking quick action to resolve Reviewed on: 19th February 2016
