Very poor substitute

1
Cheap-looking card, not at all in line with the JL brand. Also, does not show a start date for the card, something required by many online retailers. After a hopeless web-chat, I called up and was eventually told my card’s start-date. Not impressed! Reviewed on: 22nd September 2022

Very mixed experience with NewDay so far

2
My application (primary cardholder) was processed swiftly. But although I applied for a supplementary card for my partner at the same time, this was not processed. Tried to contact them by web-chat, doesn;t work. Call centre are hard to reach (idiotic menus that waste minutes of your time). Operative who answered my phone was clueless. Really not a great start Reviewed on: 21st September 2022

OTT

1
Without checking back with me, when I applied for the new JL credit card, having had mine old one for donkeys' years, I was accepted - and my credit limit was raised by £1000. To my mind this is totally crazy, not something that I would ever want and not something I ever envisage needing - and not something that I would ever ask for. So then the faff of getting them to put it back to where it was before, and of course there's no facility for contacting them, other than by phone, to do this. Beam me up. Credit limit decimated

1
Changed to the new card. Looks like I was lucky to get one but my credit limit has been reduced so much that the card is useless to me. I have been waiting nearly a month for the credit team to call me but have heard nothing despite chasing them twice. Terrible mistake, John Lewis. Reviewed on: 20th September 2022

Unworthy to be a customer.

1
Being an employee now retired and having had a JL credit card for 20 plus years never a missed payment l am no longer considered to be a credible customer entitled to the new credit card ..ok there's plenty of other retailers who would be benifit from my custom which JL will not be getting in the future. Terrible phone communication

1
There seems to be no one answering any phones at any time. All three telephone numbers just go round in circles and eventually you will hear 'I'll connect you with an associate' and then it cuts off entirely. Shame on John Lewis for bad judgement in card services. Reviewed on: 20th September 2022

New credit card is rubbish - shame on you JLP

1
JLP has just lost a loyal, high earning, high using customer who pays off her balance every month. Plus, my £10K limit on the old card was reduced to £4K. Given that I use my card for all my payments, roughly £2K per month, I have little left for large single purchases. Then I tried to use my card contactless and Chip/PIN and the message said that the card was unsupported. Off to another provider - goodbye for ever. Reviewed on: 18th September 2022

Bad Idea

1
We have been JLS card holder for many years and I use it for my Waitrose shopping always paid in full at the end of every month. Always buy from JL for major items. My husband was excepted me not so the new card is a complete waste of time as he never uses his,so no more Waitrose or JL for us.It is a complete disgrace, and someone should be ashamed for having the idea. Margaret Reviewed on: 18th September 2022

When will JL react to all these complaints?

1
My experience is the same as all the others; acceptance for new card declined even though I had always paid at the end of the month. I called my bank, Natwest who arranged for a credit card to be delivered within 5 working days, and it only took 10 minutes on the blower. Job done! I will NEVER go to JL or Waitrose again.
