The Nationwide FlexDirect current account pays interest on your money and you can earn cashback on debit card purchases for the first 12 months.

If you’re eligible for an overdraft, the first £50 is interest free. The FlexDirect account has to be managed online or over the phone, not at the branch.

Great account and provider!

Great account and provider! Nationwide have been brilliant since I switched - it feels nice to be generating interest on my current account, and to hold my money in a more ethical bank! Despite this account being online only, I have had to go in-branch for a few ID verification bits and pieces and branch staff have always been brilliant and so happy to help. Recommend! I like that they share their wealth with us.

I like that they share their wealth with us. I was given £100 last year for just having an account with some savings as the bank did well. I have banked with the big 4 before an never received anything like this. Their telephone helpers are always polite and try to reach a conclusion for you. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

Ethical with a lot of potential

Unlike other online banking systems Nationwide does not provide pin reminders. There are fewer services which may be conducted in app when compared to other banks, such as Barclays and speaking to an adviser or Natwest and checking a credit score in App. Nationwide's chat service is broken and crashes without exception, and it is difficult to check transactions in specific dates online. Switching service

I used the switching service and I was impressed with the communication throughout the process. Bonus was paid promptly. The account has a decent interest rate and no complaints so far. Reviewed on: 16th March 2024
