Very poor communication and service to members

Moving account after drop in interest rate. Delay in contact me on day of maturity so delay in receiving money. Then request copy of my bank statement to verify account when Scottish Building Society have paid interest to this account previously. Tried to phone to discuss need for statement to find they are not open on Wednesdays !! In 2026 Scottish Building Society needs to improve it's communication and efficiency to members. I opened a Regular Saver Account recently at the Queen Street Branch and received good advice about what was best for my circumstances by Loraine Kane who is the Member Relationship Assistant and a valuable asset to her customers and Scottish Building Society. Second to None Customer Service

The telephone is always answered promptly, staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to provide customers with the service which is most appropriate to them. My most recent contact with Scottish Building Society was when my cheque deposit was lost in the post. I sent another cheque and this was credited to my monthly saver account immediately. However, my original cheque then turned up. The staff offered to hold on to the cheque and pay it into my regular saver the following month which was great for me. A customer service which is flexible and more personal is wonderful to encounter in modern times. Reviewed on: 27th January 2026

Had problems trying to close a savings account online..

Had problems trying to close a savings account as online navigation to do so not clear. A call to Scottish Building Society soon cleared the"fog" thanks to Rachel Speedie who quickly pointed me in the right direction and ensured my closure request was quickly dealt with.Clear message to Scottish Building Society,make closure requst more obvious.
