Review of the Admiral, Travel Insurance:

worst company insurance not worth the paper its written on

1
Missed our flight and lost our car hire vehicle enlightenment, but Admiral would not pay out under missed international departure stating that we were not covered for the airport delays that lead to us missing our flight, so when your down, stressed and upset they put the boot in. Will never use Admiral again

I paid for a policy to cover my pre existing conditions as I have breast cancer that spread to my brain luckily currently I have no evidence of disease but declare all this on my insurance. We were on holiday in November in the Maldives (a holiday of a lifetime that we saved for for many years). 4 days into our holiday my father in law passed away. He had medical issues, he was 81 years old. However, he wasn’t in hospital and had a heart attack at a dog groomers. We had spoken to him on FaceTime only hours before it happened. As soon as we heard the news we booked return flights. Admiral have refused the whole claim as my father in law had heart problems in the past. The terms and conditions mention pre existing conditions but only asked for details of the policy holders not family members. I just cannot believe this isn’t covered. We now feel like there is no point having insurance. We feel like they are saying we knew he might die and we certainly did not or we would not have gone away. We still have my mother in law and my parents alive so it seems we shouldn’t go on holiday while they are still alive as we wouldn’t be covered if we have to come home assuming we have a policy with Admiral which we won’t ever again. I feel at the very least I was mis sold this policy as yes there is some wording around this but no specific details were asked for and the day we went away he was given “a wonder drug, that could add years to his life” so at no point were we at an end of life situation. The form to his doctors just had a couple of very leading questions. Reviewed on: 4th February 2025

avoid this insurance company Admiral

avoid this insurance company when I fell ill with Covid and I had to cancel the rest of the trip, Admiral rejected my extension many times, they are fraudsters Reviewed on: 30th January 2025

senseless and uncaring approach

1
I had taken out gadget cover for a trip and lost a set of headphones. After waiting over a month I have had my claim declined because I hadn’t reported the loss to police. I’m not sure why anyone would report losing some headphones to the police. I made the claim whilst I was still within my insured period but nonetheless admiral say they cannot go against the fact I need a report filed within 24 hours, even despite being on a road trip in a country I didn’t have phone signal in. Senseless, thoughtless and careless approach to people. People take out insurance for protection and safety and this company will sidestep all they can to avoid their responsibility to the customer. delays less than 12 hours not covered

1
Outbound and inbound delays. No claim as neither more than 12 hours. Ok should have read the small print but for the price of a small holiday don't feel I was covered for delays that affected my health condition, all declared. Reviewed on: 21st January 2025

Admiral is scam !!!

I bought travel insurance from Admiral, it covered Russia and the countries I visited. I felt bad in Turkey, the same day I went to Russia and it turned out that I had Covid. the admiral rejected the claim because FCDO has advised against all travel to Russia. moreover, I had to shorten my trip and come back when I recovered, all tickets were lost... they are a very fake company, if you want to be cheated, get insurance with ADMiRAL. It's not my fault that I got sick and lost a lot of money, that's what insurance is for in such cases. I feel discriminated against Isn't professional Reviewed on: 10th December 2024

Initially I was worried due to other reviews. I lost my phone in Majorca. I put a claim in and submitted around 10 pictures of evidence. Police report etc. after 8 days I received a call informing me that would would pay the full amount minus 10 percent because the phone was older. I could not be happier with the service. Thanks admiral Reviewed on: 6th November 2024

Policy covers nothing in effect

I thought that my buying insurance from a well known company that I would be covered. Wrong! My flight was cancelled and with no available flight for three days my travel company transferred my holiday to next year. As I was not aware that the flight was cancelled until I arrived at Gatwick airport Easyjet reimbursed a percentage of my travel home costs. I attempted to claim my travels costs for the journey to Gatwick airport from my travel insurance (which stated it covered travel expenses. First Admiral said that they would not pay out as Easyjet had sent an email informing me that the flight was cancelled. When I replied that the email was sent AFTER I had left home, and was well on my journey, and that even if we had turned around that I would still have had to pay the taxi driver - they replied that taxi fares are not covered by the policy!
