Review of the Admiral, Travel insurance:

Shocking delays and Customer Service

1
I cannot believe the incompetence displayed by Admiral Travel, inexcusably delays of 4 months to date, the total lack of communication and customer service over what should have been a simple, basic claim for a net £99.48 medical bill. I will never consider Admiral for any type of insurance again. I paid for annual travel insurance with Admiral for a holiday in Turkey July 2023. On arrival at Dalaman Airport on my return flight 28 July, I felt very ill. Jet2 saw me and asked what was wrong. Because I obviously looked bad, they insisted that before they would allowed me to fly home, I saw the airport doctor to assess if I was fit to fly home. I had the medical, costing £249.48 and obtained a ‘Fit to Fly’ certificate. After a lot of stressful phone calls from Jet2 to UK, they finally allowed me to check in for the flight home. On 23/8/23 when I was feeling better, I initiated a claim on their online claim portal for the £249.48 less excess of £150 leaving a net claim of £99.48, completed all of their questionnaire and uploaded all of the requested evidence. Now, 4 months later, having uploaded the exact same evidence at least twice more, my claim is still showing at 25% complete with outstanding unanswered questions which are identical to what I uploaded on 23/8/23, although their on portal log shows everything that has been sent with dates. This week 11/12/23 after I sent another email asking where my refund was, they replied, from an unmanned email address, 4 months after my initial claim date, asking if I could confirm if I received a refund on my return flight? Well priced annual multi-trip cover. I fortunately have not had to claim so can't comment on that. Seemingly pretty comprehensive with many bolt-on options. Very quick and easy online purchase on a well designed website. Reviewed on: 28th February 2025

Quick, easy and efficient

I recently had an accident in France that entailed all kinds of complicated expenses. Admiral dealt with everything quickly and efficiently. I can't fault them at all. When there were complications it was very easy to speak to someone. What more can you ask for? I'm very happy with my experience Reviewed on: 26th February 2025

Will never use Admiral again

1
I paid for a policy to cover my pre existing conditions as I have breast cancer that spread to my brain luckily currently I have no evidence of disease but declare all this on my insurance. We were on holiday in November in the Maldives (a holiday of a lifetime that we saved for for many years). 4 days into our holiday my father in law passed away. He had medical issues, he was 81 years old. However, he wasn’t in hospital and had a heart attack at a dog groomers. We had spoken to him on FaceTime only hours before it happened. As soon as we heard the news we booked return flights. Admiral have refused the whole claim as my father in law had heart problems in the past. The terms and conditions mention pre existing conditions but only asked for details of the policy holders not family members. I just cannot believe this isn’t covered. We now feel like there is no point having insurance. We feel like they are saying we knew he might die and we certainly did not or we would not have gone away. We still have my mother in law and my parents alive so it seems we shouldn’t go on holiday while they are still alive as we wouldn’t be covered if we have to come home assuming we have a policy with Admiral which we won’t ever again. I feel at the very least I was mis sold this policy as yes there is some wording around this but no specific details were asked for and the day we went away he was given “a wonder drug, that could add years to his life” so at no point were we at an end of life situation. The form to his doctors just had a couple of very leading questions. Reviewed on: 4th February 2025

avoid this insurance company Admiral

senseless and uncaring approach

1
I had taken out gadget cover for a trip and lost a set of headphones. After waiting over a month I have had my claim declined because I hadn’t reported the loss to police. I’m not sure why anyone would report losing some headphones to the police. I made the claim whilst I was still within my insured period but nonetheless admiral say they cannot go against the fact I need a report filed within 24 hours, even despite being on a road trip in a country I didn’t have phone signal in. Senseless, thoughtless and careless approach to people. People take out insurance for protection and safety and this company will sidestep all they can to avoid their responsibility to the customer. delays less than 12 hours not covered

Outbound and inbound delays. No claim as neither more than 12 hours. Ok should have read the small print but for the price of a small holiday don't feel I was covered for delays that affected my health condition, all declared. Reviewed on: 21st January 2025
